I was curious as to how the payout system works? Are the successful steemers who make say, three posts with a $400+ potential payout making close to 1200 on payout day?
Anyone make steady cash from Steem?

$1.04
- Past Payouts $1.04
- - Author $1.01
- - Curators & beneficiaries $0.02
- > esteemapp: $0.03
Everything is explained in the FAQ: https://steemit.com/faq.html
But Authors receive 75%, curators 25% (but depending on the time of vote in the first 30 minutes a portion goes to the author). Just read the FAQ. lol :)
Lots of followers and lots of STEEM POWER, usually both. Check the wallet and you'll see the people with higher numbers next to their name usually have lots of followers or followers with a high amount of STEEM POWER. This makes their votes worth more money, and the people voting on their posts are voting with more money. Plus, when you add a bunch of small guys like me voting, and the rewards add up.
This oversimplifies a little bit but I'm no pro. It's a very basic explanation. Ask @firepower about it.
