Interesting theory. Incidentally, I did watch that STNG episode and that installment of the spiderman. :-)

I remember this case of the black goo trope from a movie called "Fern Gully"

"Who Ever Made The Earth... Did It For Money..."

This is an idea I'd like to hear fleshed out a bit more. It might link in with some ideas about money I've been thinking about.

Nice post

greed is universal... that's a logical assumption

By the way, it's funny to see that TNG clip with Ryker looking so young. I always remember him from later seasons, with a beard. And the acting is pretty cheesy.

LOL... I always love how Riker is super confident... like he already knows he's not the one dying this episode

I like where you're going with it, but I would love to see some more extrapolation on this thought process. Could different goos, created from different races, compete? Why wouldn't they overtake planets (via a grey goo scenario) to spread instead? There's a lot of ways you could go with it. Either way, followed.

If black goo is part of the planet, then maybe another race didn't create it. Planets are alive... maybe even gender based. A female planet (black goo) most be pollenated by a male planet (black goo) to produce life.

Yes, the black goo definitely looks like that nice soup form Star Trek; as a Trekkie myself I can't say I am not proud to say - ' I knew it long way back' hehehehehe
