RE: Justification for 104 week Power Down

in #steem9 years ago (edited)

I'd speculate that now is the time to buy!!!

The best/worst story I've heard is a vendor I work with who ... a long time ago ... had an opportunity to purchase pre-IPO for a software startup. He had recently lost a relative and had cash in hand. He and his wife had just had their first child. He chose to invest in an education fund for his daughter instead of investing in Microsoft.

Statistically, he made the right decision.

Sort:

I'm personally waiting for the liquid steem to increase above 10%. Until then, on a macro scale it's probably better to power down.

Why do you think that is better?

It's natural support. When vested steem is greater than approx 90%, then steem power holders have a negative rate of real return. When it's below they have a positive rate of real return.

This is because 90% of the printed steem gets allocated to SP holders and if this is above 90% vested then the return is lower.

Once that level is hit I'd expect buying, just based on structure alone. Or at keast a reduction in selling.

Thanks. That's good info.

Which is why in my opinion the volume has dried up recently. The market has figured it out and will wait until that point.

The market has dried up because no one wants to buy.

@repholder which is essentially what I meant :)
