It’s a little embarrassing to admit, but I’ve always had the guilty pleasure of watching my share of trash TV. Everyone does it, right? Well recently, I got rid of cable TV and this is what happened:
· I didn’t know what to do with this newfound free time. I was bored, frustrated and becoming increasingly annoying to my cat (Sorry, Echo).
· Self-reflection. I truly realized how much of my free time from work and school was spent filling my life with meaningless reality TV for entertainment, instead of something more productive.
· I bought 4 books. I’ve always enjoyed reading, but in the past, something on TV usually won over a book (Probably because TV doesn’t require much thinking…let’s be real).
· I started filling my free time with more fulfilling activities like reading books, setting goals for myself, planning things for my future, watching interesting/educational documentaries, and drawing (Okay, I’ve only been drawing lately because I’m in an art class, but I actually find it really relaxing and fun).
What I’m saying is this: I’m someone who thought I couldn’t live without cable TV, but now that I’m forced to live without it, my feelings have evolved from boredom and frustration to productiveness and even a bit of enlightenment; and now here I am finding myself on Steemit learning new things and being a more productive human. Try it!
Very interesting
