I Am Everywhere At The Same Time.

Not An Introduction Post.

I have been on STEEM for over 3 years. When many of my friends told me to leave, I stayed. When the price went down to nothing, I continued to be active. I have been on this rollercoaster ride a long time, and I've been here during all the ups and downs. I have seen it all. Almost.

I say almost, because some things have happened lately...

For a long period of time, I have struggled with motivation. Things have gone downhill for such a long time so STEEM has not been similar to what I have become used to. I am not talking about the price, even though everyone obviously would appreciate a higher value for their beloved STEEM, I am talking about the atmosphere.

Greed and despair have been flowing through this blockchain for a long time and the general behaviour seems to have changed as well. People have changed. I have changed.

However, even though I personally have not enjoyed to be on STEEM as much as I did in the past, some things have changed lately, and some of these things seems to be pretty epic actually.

We have Steem-engine, we have tribes and dozens of different tokens... It's a strange world we live in, and I bet that all of these new cool things makes things difficult for some.

Some people still has problems figuring out if Steemit is the blockchain and if Steem is the currency or not. All these new things definitely makes it harder for some people to understand what Steem is.

Now, we can see Steem, palnet, stemgeeks and neoxian to name a few. On top of that, we have tokens for the different gambling dApps, whaleshares, weku and whatever the name is for all of those places. Steem-engine has helped us tremendously, and some people are still eagerly waiting for the SMT of Steem...

STEEM is difficult. Steem is without a doubt the most difficult thing online I've ever been a part of, and I've been here for 3 years. I often feel like a blatant rookie. I don't even know when and where I should use all of these new tags, even though I've started to understand things a little bit better. Everything is obviously still new, but STEEM has always been difficult. Too difficult for the so called "average" people.

I love how these new things (let's call them the steemit alternatives) gives people options, but it's not just as easy to "just do it" anywhere. You can't just write a post and publish it. Technically, it is that simple, but people wants to be a part of everything. They want to increase their chances to earn, so they need to be visible everywhere.

This basically means that they need to learn how each of these work. What type of content is allowed, what type of content is "the best" to publish and what type of tags would be the most efficient to use...

  • Questions everywhere.

I am just curious to know... When will it stop?
How many different tokens will we see and will we ever be able to be part of everything? When is the time to focus on one, two or three things instead of 614? - And when do you know that time has come?

Airdrops is really cool, even though I only had the opportunity to get PAL, but all these tokens... I have 19 different tokens right now, I don't know if that is more or less than others, but I seriously don't even know where I got 14 of them... They just popped up out of no where... And I am pretty sure of the fact that I will get even more in the near future.

(Hint: feel free to send me something that is worth more than 0.00001)

Are all of these things more than I could dream of?

Honestly speaking, it is more than I could possibly dream of. Like I said, basically everything with STEEM has felt pretty boring, stagnant and tiresome for a long period of time... As I've been struggling with motivation on top of that, things have felt worse for each day I've been around more or less... And now, all of these things...?!

This is most certainly cool.

Sort:

Regarding Steem , Every moon time seems very hurtful, isn't it? But I also have a big hope in the future ...Keep steeming

Literally every single change on STEEM is likely to make things worse, so things are bad. That's for sure. Hopefully, these new things will yield better results.

I have been here for 2 years and see the same things you are talking about. Infact I have completely stopped writing articles because no one seems to read them anymore so now I really only do Dtube videos, steemhunt to earn daily rewards and actifit for fitness but thats basically it. I have gotten quite a few friends to join steemit but none of them stayed because it is so confusing and that was before all the extra tokens which even confuse me!. It just seems like everyone is going in different directions at full speed and it is tearing apart what steemit once was, a community. Now it is all factions, groups and clubs, not unity.

This opinion will not be well received by the "new steemians" I used to have utopian idealistic visions for this platform, my hope isn't dead, I still see potential and I've met some cool people. But, tribalism without any cohesion is a recipe for the f word, factions. It's a distraction first and a novelty second. If the communities could manage to onboard and retain users within their niche a few could survive.

The reality is most rational people aren't inspired to create cool or meaningful content and the idea that a band of fractured pirate volunteers will piece frankensteem together is pure fantasy.

I've focused on satire and troll content that alienates me from the steem is life click.

"It just seems like everyone is going in different directions at full speed and it is tearing apart what steemit once was, a community. Now it is all factions, groups and clubs, not unity."

I agree with you. All of these "tribes" makes things worse in the sense of tags. Tags aren't useful anymore, because everyone will use the tags I've used in this post. But, they will use it for whatever content they produce because they want those extra rewards. However, that's basically the only downside I see so far with them.

The beginning is always tough. I had the somewhat same experience. I have been here for about 1.5 years. Thankfully, many new things came across to earn better.

"Thankfully, many new things came across to earn better."

I hear you... But I'm not as convinced as you are. I actually believe that many of these things that makes it easier to "earn", gives people more Stake, but also have a negative impact on the value.

I would rather have a high value and less stake than the other way around, but it seems like the majority of people here are looking for as much stake as possible, which obviously affects the value of the stake.

I'm not much into the analysis as I am not a technical thinker. I can smell that you are somewhat right. But how this staking power will have a negative impact?

Well, I haven't thought about these things too much so far...

I guess it comes down to this:
Will people power up/stake their earnings, or will we continue to see the same group of individuals get more stake in terms of dozens of tokens? Which eventually will be sold for even more Steem.

I think that one of the most harmful things towards the price of STEEM is that a rather small group of individuals owns a really large chunk of STEEM. When they sell, the price goes down, and a user with say 200K can easily go down in price meanwhile a user with 500 steem can't, as they would basically get nothing for it.

I was thinking along these lines tonight too. Putting up an actifit post but the dapp, while it's improving, is still glitchy and i doubt ppl with families, jobs, extracurricular activities, bills, circus for politics, environmental issues, debt, and health issues, to name a few, actually have time or patients to push through and stack Steem. I am stubborn enough. You are too. Hopefully it's not too long until it turns around and our investment of time & passion pays off! I am glad to see you posting 😁

Yeah, it feels like Steem has become a lot more time consuming due to all these new stuff. Not sure if that's a good thing. Another negative thing is that tags won't be used as they are supposed to be used, because people will use the tribe-tags instead of other tags.

I can totally relate. I have been here for two years, though I haven't been active until recently... It's interesting how things changed, but I miss the fun that the platform has offered a year back... I'm glad to see familiar people likevyou who's constantly posting... :) I just started with Neoxian city today... :)

I've had my fair share of ups and downs. I've been struggling with motivation for a long time now, but have started to get some motivation back lately. Not sure if all of these new things are truly good for STEEM though. Even though many of them might look really awesome at first glance.

That's true, too... We don't know exactly how it'll affect Steem in the long run, but hopefully through these things, people will become more active. :)

I also got Tokens I don't know anything about... I think I'll just wait and see how this will play out.

Yeah, I guess we can't do much more than that. Hold and see what happens.

So much happening yet nothing happening.. I wonder if that is applicable. As for the tokens it is pretty nice to get stuff just cause so my general rule of thumb with them all from pal to shit is to stake and forget, or if I can't stake then forget. The only one I have an actual use for is DEC and maybe that will change but it does keep me from breaking my head over what to do.

Side note... I think some people don't want to understand and others never will which is fine if you have them signed up to a dedicated interface which won't require them to really care and so each will have their users and all can be blissfully ignorant.

"So much happening yet nothing happening.."

Yup. That's the story of STEEM.

Never have we seen so many awesome, new, cool and innovative things on STEEM, but the price is still extremely low and STEEM still seems to be stagnant.

That's pretty weird if you ask me.

I think you just have to look at what I call SCOT tribe fundamentals.

Is there a community there?

Official community example: palnet.

Organic community example: gaming.

If the community is a niche like, steemace, for example then the tag needs to be well moderated.

With a SCOT everything other than these fundamentals is FOMO and FUD.

Of course there will be many opportunities to make a few tokens from the FOMO and FUD of others. :-p

Yeah... Well, do you think anyone would think like this?

My guess is that we can kiss our previous tags goodbye, because people will use the tribe-tags instead for whatever things they publish... And I'm not sure that 431 different tribes are something we should aim for actually, even though I like some of the things I've seen so far.

I guess I'm just skeptical.

Once steemit rolls out smt its gonna get even more complex. But that's just the nature of an organic economy.

I agree, steemit is very difficult, way more difficult than I ever imagined possible! Nice article:
Here’s your tip, Paragraph 7 should say:

“Some people still have problems...”

& paragraph 13 should say

“Airdrops are...”
