Upvoted because it's good to discuss, but I disagree with any kind of additional restriction on new users. There are already certain ones in place, although I don't know the extent of them.

Steemit is still relatively new and unknown. Can you imagine the horror when everybody just starts using this platform to grab some cash in only 12 hours? Already today, 80% of new posts are only to complain about why their post didn't make any money

It's just like Bitcoin in the early days, when anyone could mine with a laptop. It was just luck if you mined 50 BTC. Then the difficulty would rise.

I think something similar will happen to steemit. Instead of cryptographic difficulty, it'll be basically creative difficulty. But that's a good thing.

So yeah, 80% complain now. Eventually, it'll be 99%.
