Everybody has their favorite kind of car from the by gone era. Like the automobile, Steem will continue to evolve. We'll look back on the old Steemit, the way we look back on this classic car, but we'll still be driving on steem all the way to $1000.
Nobody compares with the compatibility of STEEM. It has multiple platforms, multiple developers, multiple audiences, and multiple potential uses, for multiple audiences. Other blockchains offer a unique niche of storing, sending, and receiving value. But Steem continues to evolve technologically and creatively.
Consider Amazon, a media juggernaut, which has a variety of revenue streams. They offer online shopping, provide publishing for authors, music hosting and purchase, and have stepped into the big boys game of Hollywood by producing their own movies and tv. Tesla has already given us hope for electric cars, now they are providing more and more jobs by empowering the energy sector, and space exploration. Facebook and Google's Alphabet are two other companies worth noting. What all these companies have in common are mulitiple moving parts that serve the companies greater good. Ford and GM cornered the market on cars once. STEEM, while only a year old, continues to show forward thinking growth while inadvertently cornering the market.
There are currently several steemit apps that in development, many of which I don't know about. What i appreciate already are @esteem and seeing what @zappl can become. @Busy is not out of the picture and @Steemit will continue to evolve. Strictly from a social media standpoint, steem will continue to be the "Go To" destination for new comers to learn, and for invested developers and digital coins aficionados to share ideas. I'm not even touching on the relationship between bitshares and eos. The potential for growth within the coding community is another exciting aspect as intelligent developers realize the empowering community that communicates here.
Music, Video, Photos, and entertainment are on the horizon for the masses. A market for goods and services will surely follow where mechanics and teachers are able able to offer their work for steem. And the rumor of a STEEM-VISA Card has not left the building. If a one trick pony like bitcoin can reach 1,000 in a five years, then steem will skyrocket to heights we haven't seen. And if steem can protect free speech, rewarding both healthy criticism with earnest appreciation, then the creativity for content providers and developers will only push the product, and the price higher.

Not much substance here discussing why it'll reach $1,000 or at least why you think so
$1000 in 5 years seem to be a stretch. But I do think if the adoption for the website grows at the current rate then it might reach $4 by the end of this year at-least.
If any one of these platforms challenge their counterparts, it will unlock the real value of Steem. Eg : If Dtube can really take off, people start looking at it even as a second viable option that would create enough attention and people will flock to buy Steem. Until then we have to be patient :)

This is a very short-term perspective. You have to take a longer term view.
I used to be a stockbroker, as in buy and hold, not a day trader.
Steem has real value, its blockchain has real value, and $1000 in five years may even turn out to be a conservative prediction.
Or it may not - it could go either way, but taking the long view, I am bullish on Steem's prospects. I am investing in it, and in several other cryptos as well.
Yes and! It's the only real blockchain providing anything like social medai. Plus there are other platforms for a different social sharing experience that run on steem. @zappl, @busy, @dtube just to name a few.

Cryptos with market caps in the hundreds of billions or trillions may happen sooner than anyone expects. There is a lot of printed fiat money sloshing around the world right now and it wouldn't take much of it to send a token like STEEM to $1k.

I imagine that could happen if eos becomes the "go to" protocol and if something like Library credits is placed onto of steam it could really generate some wild growth... but thats a shit load of speculation ;)

i dont know about definitely, but it has been growing astoundingly. From last I checked STEEM was around the 2000th most visited website globally and around 1200th in the U.S. Very impressive numbers but still a bit off from Facebook still (Facebook is always in top 5 I think)

I still think $10 will happen soon (maybe a month?) Random guesses and speculation, sure, but I don't see any reason why something that had a value of $7 couldn't go to $10. The craziest thing is the coinmarketcap chart of Steem Dollars. Who would have thought they would have gone up so much? Everyone expected the price to remain about a dollar, but the price spiked to insanity last year and even now it is doing it's thing.
If we could only identify what made Steem go to $7, and why it hasn't gone anywhere near that ever since, we might be onto something.
Well, it wasn't just Steem, it was nearly everything. If Bitcoin turns around and starts hitting $20,000 again, then I'm sure altcoins like Steem will pump as well. Crashes suck when you're holding the bag, but are great if you are buying low. LTC was like $300 and is now around $75. Dash was over $1000 and is now under $250. There are going to be complete failures of some coins/projects, but there may be some gems that still go to the moon. I think we all hope Steem will be one that makes it, but it is always good to stay diversified if things don't go as planned.
$1.000 per STEEM equates to $238 bn. market cap just fwiw. Facebook's market cap is around $430 bn.

Well it equals 250B if price were $1000 today. Approx 250M is in the circulation. Taking into the consideration that in 5 years the supply can double, it will be 500B. Compared to Bitcoins market cap today, it is not so unreal, but I don't think that it will go so high.
What I think, is that price of steem will reach triple digit. maybe 100, or maybe 300. I mean in the five year span.
You can't go by the amount of steem today because every year much more are created

Such a load of crap. This thing is going to be a distant memory in a year or two. Facebook can be used by 80 year olds. How many 80 year olds can use steem? How many 50 year olds? Buy bitcoin get wallet transfer funds, power up, markdowns to post, tag this tag that. Come on people this will attract a very small portion of the population. I join this added money powered up and thought how great it was, then I came to understand this is controlled by the few and you'll never become anything because 10 people own the whole thing. As I read the comments it's very scary how so many are willing to actually expect this. U can't compare bitcoin to steem, it's a totally different design. I love steem but I realize the inflation rate is huge. Bitcoin has no inflation at least in there's not a fork that changes that which would destroy bitcoins value

There is zero evidence for this prediction. It sounds awesome and obv I'm here on steamit. But steem ti $1000 is insane. It's not a finite number created like bitcoin, this is going to control the price much more then other cryptos with a limited number to be created. The inflation rate is to high with steem

I'm not very savvy in the cryptocurrency world but I know the basics and I've been thinking the same thing about how Steemit offers so much more than others. I feel really good about how it will performing the near-long term. It's nice to see someone with a lot better understanding confirming my suspicions.
I don't know too much. I just noticed the trend in the internal developments using the steem blockchain for it's rewards and exchange of value. Exciting to see it's continued growth.

Almost after 9 months of this post steem has grown a lot and so has every crytocurrency. I was searching for a price prediction that i can agree with. Here the prediction is way too high and un believable. I know bitcoin took 8 years to come to 1000$. If we compare steem with bitcoin, we can clearly understand that it is not possible. Every year steem doubles in number. so unless the growth of steemit doubles, even the current price of steem can't keep up.

An interesting prediction... be nice if it were true. I can see about $30-50 in five years; $1000 (even in 10-12 years) would be heavily contingent on cryptos (as a whole) becoming a broadly recognized and held investment asset class, similar to precious metals. Right now, we're still a flyspeck.
STEEM visa where people can blog one day, and 7 days later buy paint for the garage? I think that alone would put it on a rocket.
A Steem Visa card would be a pretty awesome invention, although I think it might put a lot of selling pressure on Steem... too many would liquidate their Steem, rather than "hold" it... and that would work directly counter to a $1000 price target.
When people use card to buy with cryptos it sells the crypto thus putting selling pressure on it not the other way around

Strictly Fundamental Speculation. Amazon is a juggernaut stock because of it's multifaceted platform. Steem is a multifaceted blockchain with many multifaceted platforms. So it is strictly speculation at this time. And I do believe we are a few years away from realizing it's fullest potential. But look at it's growth in just over a year. It is remarkable. If Steem has the average YoY growth that Facebook went through (in its adoption phase 2004 / 2016) it would only get up to $3.01 in 2018. But honestly though.
