5 USER SEGMENTS OF STEEMIT TECHNOLOGY ADOPTION. WHICH ONE ARE YOU?

Just like with other technology, Steemit has segments of users depending on how they take it up. I heard about Steemit on September through twitter after reading @thelifeofjord tweets. I signed up immediately, watched tons of videos but for some reason, my account took too long to be approved and I gave up on it. Steemit was somewhere on my to-do-list and I completely forgot about it. I then came across a Youtuber talking about Steemit and it came to my recommended videos section, probably through Google remarketing. It took two contacts and scenarios for me to completely make a decision. I have also spoken with some people and even in our Kenya Steemit meetup, this is something that came up. Some people heard of it and immediately took action. Others heard of it but did not do anything. There are 5 types of people when it comes to adopting a new technology. This time I will focus on Steemit

Innovators

These are the people who take up something immediately. These are the risk lovers and sometimes, the young people fill, in this bracket. For example, when Snapchat came out, so many people joined immediately but others like me waited for some time or never joined at all. These people are very social. I am sure that some successful people on Steemit were the innovators and they joined the platform fast and grew fast. Sometimes, the risk can pay off for fail.

Early Adopters

I think I fall in this category. This is the category that adopts a technology after the first one. They love to do their research, background check and reap the benefits of a new technology. Early adopters are more discrete and like to figure things out and be thought leaders.

Early Majority

When the word spreads, we will see a huge influx of people joining Steemit. I feel like in 2018, thousands of people will join this platform. They get the news from the first two groups and they are a bit slow in adoption. They love being part of the masses and they do not want to have an active leadership role on Steemit.

Late Majority

These are the “late Bloomers” on Steemit who will join in probably in 2019 if it will still be stable. They’re very skeptical and choose to focus on the resources that sat het “Steemit is a scam”. They are risk averse and they will only join when they see people have actually made money. They will not research or take initiative.

Laggards

These are the last people to adopt Steemit. They are indifferent and do not research on the technology or innovation. Hey are more “old school’ and traditional. They love how things work at the moment and they like the traditional process.

So where do you lie?

Some people may not have heard of Steemit yet but when they hear about it, they will quickly adopt it and grow fast because they take massive action. Others could not be bothered. However, every technology has its pros and cons. I would advice you to do your research and make a decision that you will stick by. If you decide to get on the platform, do not half-ass it. Go all the way. Create good content. Talk to people. Make connections and up vote and comment. If you decide this is not for you, then do not waste time on the platform. You are better doing other things. I choose the former.
Who is with me?
Happy Steeming.
