If you have a new Steemit account, you might have noticed that there is a number in parentheses below your Steem Power balance that looks like this: (+14.909 STEEM). This represents STEEM that is delegated to you, and it’s one of the coolest features of the Steem platform.
When you delegate Steem Power to someone, you’re basically letting them borrow the influence that it generates. Their upvote will be calculated as if the Steem Power was their own, but they won’t have the ability to power it down or cash it out.
Delegating Steem Power is great because it allows the owner to support other Steem accounts. A great example is the huge Steem Power delegation that @dtube has, which gives them the ability to hand out big upvotes and help the platform grow.
So now if you hear about delegated Steem Power, you’ll know what it means. 😀
Thanks for watching, and please let me know in the comments if you have any questions!

I learn something new from each video I watch from you! Keep it up.
Thanks for watching! 😀
Its a lot simpler when explained like that :). Now im gonna try find out who delegated to me that steem power.
I'm glad it was helpful! :D
I like your videos, quick and easy information to questions that I have.
I just claimed my first rewards which got me thinking, is there any downside to claming them as fast as possible? IE, is there any upside in waiting and claim more rewardsat the same time? Mabye an idea for a future video if there is more people wondering the same thing.
I'm glad they've been helpful!
As far as I know there is no downside to claiming the rewards quickly, but I'm not sure exactly how it works behind the scenes so I'll look into it. Will report back if I find anything! 😀
Thank you, I did a little research myself and couldn't find anything pointing to there being a downside of claiming quickly, some suggested that the redeem button is there to lessen the number of transactions on the blockchain.
now all I need is for someone to delegate steem power to me :D haha. I think this is so helpful when new. I personally know of steemians that are really high ranked, however, they are not interested in delegating. Does it negatively affect them at all?
I don't know for sure, but I don't think so. It's their Steem Power so totally up to them how they use it! :D
Good points, my buddy and I went on a spending spree and bought a lot of great stuff with all our virtual currency! Check out all the bling in this video: https://d.tube/v/nerdstalking/abr9wlet
