I agree. I couldn't care less when someone makes a comment on one of my posts, and then upvotes himself. I'm guilty of it. And I have some Steemit pals who I want to consistently support, though I do still like to see real content. There's a LOT of content on Steemit these days. For some, especially those first starting out, it's hard to be seen. Sometimes their own vote is one of a very few that they're getting. So no respect loss on my end.
But I also want to see Steemit be a success and use my tiny vote to reward those who are working hard to create great content. So I spent a lot of time trolling around, looking for folks who I haven't yet connected with. The wind up is that not everyone that I follow can get my vote (for what it's worth), but I can say that I try to spread some love around.
