The down side to Bitwala is nobody in the US can use it currently. I did an article on being unbanked in the US and how I tried using crypto as a solution. Once I got a Shift card from Coinbase, everything changed.
I am really looking for other crypto prepaid debit cards to become available in the US. Glad Steemit, Inc has been working on this because it's a game changer.
US sucks 😂 Always a buzz kill
It's coming. Guaranteed someone is working on it right now... :>)
I would imagine you are correct. The real issue is around money transmitter licenses at the Federal level, State level and the new Bit Licenses at the more regional level. I remember reading once t would cost $25 million in regulatory fees and compliance costs just to get those licenses.
Personally, I don't think an ecosystem of about 200,000 is large or a mature enough market to support a credit card yet. Just need deep pockets to carry the company until such time.
Oh That makes sense.
SpectroCoin accepted also Steem here https://goo.gl/MVDC9q
You have the choice between virtual card and plastic card.
Virtual card is free Plastic cost 8 €

I looked into them as well during my unbanking experiment and they are also not available to people in the US.
Coinbase has a card?? a Shift Card??
@topnetworkeral Shift payments integrates a prepaid debit card with your Coinbase account, which allows you to settle USD purchases with Bitcoin anywhere VISA is accepted. It also allows you to withdraw up to $200 USD per day from ATMs pretty much anywhere in the world from your Bitcoin wallet at Coinbase. I have to admit it's pretty awesome.

I did write all about the other debit cards available and my whole experience living unbanked and using crypto as a banking solution on my blog, which you can check out (Living la Vida Unbanked).
I would advise anyone in the cryptosphere to have a prepaid debit card of some kind.
Living La Vida Unbanked!
player that's hard af ........... love it. and thank you for the more detailed response; That shiftcard does sound interesting indeed. gonna check out that site for the card and where do I find your La Vida blog?
@topnetworkeral Deeper Dives: Living la Vida Unbanked in the World of Digital Currencies It's in there.
wow.. very very fast!
Fantastic will you be able to use it in the 🇬🇧 uk
Awesome! Can't wait .....
This is awesome news for the community and the currency as a whole. The more ways to use steem there are, the better.
thanks for the information :)
Man this really looks awesome! Right now if I need traditional money (USD, EUR) I need to withdraw Steem to somewhere where I can convert to bitcoin, and then convert the bitcoin to traditional money somewhere else once again. I upvoted and resteemed this post. :)
I would like to have one. 😀
Thanks for sharing this. Hopefully this will make steem transfers to Euro a lot easier and less complicated.

Can't wait for a real solution here in the USSA.
SIGH I'm in Canada and sadly we are last for everything ;)
Only heard of 1 exchange in Vancouver. I'm not even close to cashing out.. but will need a solution eventually.
