this is not a helpful direction for the platform.
The reward pool is already being raped by a few players with multiple well funded accounts set up to mine the reward pool.
People need wake up to what is going on here because if left unabated it could easily be the end of steemit
You are right that this is not the perfect step, but is nevertheless a step in the right direction. Rome also wasn't build in one day.
We are not sure yet how the future will look like, especially with communities just around the corner, but we want to change steem for the good. Even if it means to be a (much) better voting-bot in the beginning.
I agree wholeheartedly! Bots have already taken control of the "popularity" and rewards process. It is pure nonsense to make a massive reward to a posting regarding a price move on a crypto when that "news" has a useful life of about a minute, while at the same time, a posting that took the creator days or weeks to create is ignored because the bot is pointing to "hot, breaking", and mostly useless, post the bot was written to detect.
The flashing strobe lights are getting the attention and the real, lasting quality in Steemit is being relegated to the trash bin.
Eliminate ALL of the bots so real quality has a chance to make Steemit actually rewarding!
Extremism is never the right thing to do. You can't eliminate all bots, you can simply make them non-profitable. Maybe this will happen with communities - who knows. But as of right now - steem is a decentralized system where everyone has the freedom to do what he wants and if he/she wants to use 100$ to get on the trending page - then this is her own right.
Even if there wouldn't be any bots anymore - vote-selling would still not be solved. But you are right - we have to change steem for the better!
