After experimenting and having different experiences with creating post and get rewards from them, here is how I think the reward is the best for the author.
50/50 or 100% STEEM Power?
First when I started making posts and articles, I activated the settings “100% STEEM Power” for my author rewards. The reason was to gain as much STEEM Power possible in order to up my influence on the platform. But I realise that putting all my rewarding into STEEM Power does not give the best profit.
If we have a look at todays currency charts, you can see that, during the day, Steemdollar and STEEM moves up and down in price. If you do your timing right or more cleverly, you can actually achieve more STEEM Power trough buying STEEM when the difference between the two currencies are the biggest (When SBD worth more than STEEM) and then invest it in STEEM Power. Therefor you should reward yourself with both SDB and STEEM Power, because then you gain more STEEM Power and you got SDBs that you can speculate with to gain better amounts of STEEM.
You should not exchange the SDBs you earn into STEEM straight away. Only do that when you know the difference between the currencies are the greatest. Once you recognise that the difference is bigger, then you can exchange you SDBs into STEEM and STEEM power.
What if there is a great time to sell STEEM?
As we know, all STEEM that you invest in STEEM Power you will not get back before 3 months after starting “Power down”. This means that if there was a great chance to sell STEEM, then you would be stuck with STEEM Power and possibly loose that opportunity.
This is what I think you should remember before thinking like this… You should know that it takes a lot of STEEM to earn a lot of money, and therefor to keep reinvesting the SDBs into STEEM and STEEM Power is going to pay well off in the future. This is specially a tip to people who are new to the STEEM platforms and recently created an account. Do not worry if you are stuck with you STEEM power, it will pay off if you keep being active. I hope all of you guys are here to be active members of the STEEM community. But to make effort worth the time, it will include to start to think clever, doing research around opportunities.

Nice job John. I agree, going 50/50 always seems to bring in much bigger payouts. I think it could be risky waiting to convert SBD into Steem because at some point it should drop much lower than Steem.
Yes @michaelluchies, waiting too long can be risky as the price will drop. But what is life without risks haha? :P

Hahaha, for sure, this is all a bit risky, which makes it a little more fun. But we're both in it for the long haul so I think as long as we're stocking up Steem, we'll be looking pretty good in a year or two.
