RE: The ethics of Using Bots

in #steem7 years ago

You stated, "There are of course many authors who are adding a lot of value to Steem, some treat Steemit like a job, and a good percentage of these authors use upvote bots and resteeming services to gain some visibility with good results."

I don't have a problem with resteeming, since to me, it's just like advertising. But I do have a problem with Upvote bots, because I'm one of those people that want other people to read my stuff, and I want to hear from living breathing people as to what they think about my work.

I've also heard of whales that cut down their vote to 1% of the total. That's just mean, if you want to be a good whale, then pick good content and vote on it.
(sigh) People need to stop treating things like investments and start using them for bettering humanity. Reward the good content and get rid of the bad.

But that's just my two steem.

Resteeming to me does not seem as effective as we might think, but then again I don't see it too problematic as well.

I may sound naive, but when reading that post from Dan and attempting to imagine in its entirety what the Idea was, it seemed to be that Resteeming was supposed to be a selfless act, kind of this is great information I love, more people should know about it. And maybe, just maybe by making it a service the altruistic element gets completely destroyed... I don't know, maybe I'm naive... but again I am of the philosophy live and let live..
