Claim Rewards - The New Button on Steemit Just Shown Up To Me!

in #steem8 years ago (edited)

Now after fork you dont get rewards until you claim them and today my first little reward from comment pot came.

And here is what obviously happens after you click it:

Not sure, comment payouts are shorter and take just 4 days instead of 7 ?

Anyways that my small update on payments you can predict after the HF18 for now.

Follow, Resteem and VOTE UP @kingscrown creator of http://fuk.io blog for 0day cryptocurrency news and tips!

I'm waiting for payment on one in 3 days I haven't got that button

Oh really, like you have got the claim button too already?

I haven't got the button

Oh okay! Perhaps, on the 8th day!

Now 2 days still no button ???

Are you sure.... is this april fools ?ha...ha... ! Nice ! :)

i did not post on 1st april at all, jokes are for other people - this is a serious blog ;)

Okay.... Too many fake posting make me dizzy... Ha..ha... Glady know that is true Nice ! :)

so what's the point of claiming? why not just pay it out automatically?

I seem to recall some explanation around this change just decreasing some of the processing demands on the back end. I think it's strictly for scalability and tech efficiency. It certainly would inherently decrease the number of actual transactions, as people won't automatically claim every individual reward calculation. It may also go hand in hand with the new reward split features of posting. It may make it easier to see and track incoming rewards from posts other than your own.
My one wish would be that this interface and calculation would have more decimal places, allowing even the smallest interactions to give a feeling of progress and build up into a clickable reward. If you have to click it anyway, it's also a perfect starting point for some gamification elements. Throw a progress bar and some achievement type accolades into that interface!

I'm hoping Steemit, Inc. has an open discussion about this. My guess is that it could provide an opportunity for any unclaimed Steem to be sent back to the rewards pool after a certain period of time.

Maximize distribution efficiently. Everyday users would probably end up with more rewards versus a bot user who may only access an account once a month or longer???

Just my 3cents worth...

That was my guess too. Actually, bots are one thing, but people giving their keys away to third parties are another. If someone signs up for one of those services, gives away their posting key, then completely goes inactive, there's no reason to actually give these inactive users any curation rewards. It can add up.

But that's just a wild guess. I'd like to know the official reason.

Hey this is almost like the pop-bubbles for steem idea lol

A very fixed one, but maybe one step closer to your idea! :) Share your post here so other who didn't see it can have a read!

Did we get rid of curation rewards?

No, curation rewards still exist. We're just not getting any at the moment because of the switch from a 1 day post payout time to a 7 day post payout time. Once all of the 1 day posts concluded around the launch of the recent hard fork, we were all left with a week lag as we wait for new posts to reach payout time, and then rewards will start flowing again.
Likewise, that's why many have not seen the new rewards claim option yet. Unless you had a post or comment reward right on "the bubble" at the hard fork, you probably won't see any rewards to claim for several more days.

Yeah a few people have brought this up.

i didn't get this button yet anyone like me

I must have missed that on the release notes. (smiles)

It's in there, but all it says is:

Reward Balance

Rewards will now go into a separate reward balance that must be claimed before they can be used.

Not very descriptive.

I still don't have it,...
:-(

love the way it trades on the internal market, will bring so much action to that market

Hey @kingscrown! Clear and enjoyable.

I claimed my rewards, I wondered where they came from...still not sure what that was for...

i think comments

hmm... i don't have this

Interesting.

Interesting - i have not discovered the and other new features..... where is this edit button to change older posts and comments?

I haven't got any button in my wallet.

Good to know that, thank you! Resteemed
Information like these should be communicated through official channels to make them available to all users.

Hah, is this an April Fool's joke?)

no i didnt post on 1st april at all

Then this is great news! Thank you!

I do not have a button ..

Yeah, I had that this morning, too.

The rewards were for a very old comment on someone else's post. that would have "matured" today under the old 30-day payout period. It was not for "current" content.

Ahaha late april fools joke ? :D

I know it's off topic, but what does the number in brackets mean for steem power?

It's steem power that has been delegated to your account. It will add to your voting power but cannot be withdrawn. It's essentially steem power that has been lent to you.

Apparently various whales do this to try to level the playing field a bit on steemit - trying to expand the scope and perspectives of steemit from a macro view.

Thanks, I was confused
