Great interview, thanks for all the time you spent on helping Steemit and its community grow!
I only joined Steemit around the time HF19 was introduced. So I don't know what it was like before that.
But I have seen a lot of people upvote their own comments. I find that very lame, and – except for perhaps a misclick – I never do it. If we really want Steemit to be a community, a platform where we support each other, why is it even possible to upvote your own comments?
I think it would be better if, with the next update, Steemians would no longer be able to upvote their own comments. That way, everyone would hopefully be more inclined to use their voting power for other Steemians.
Btw: I tried to vote for @timcliff as a witness. However, I received this message:
Yesterday I got the same message when I wanted to leave a comment. This morning I could leave a comment again. However, a few hours later I saw this comments again when I wanted to redeem rewards in the wallet tab (so I couldn't redeem them), and now when I wanted to vote. I couldn't find much info on why this happens. Any idea?
Each user has an allotted bandwidth. (The more SP you have, the more bandwidth you are allowed.) When the network gets congested due to heavy usage, uses who have used up the most of their bandwidth will get throttled. The best thing to do is just wait a bit until the traffic dies down (could be a few minutes or a few hours depending on the user activity) and then try again. You also technically have the option to purchase more SP to increase your bandwidth allowance.
Thanks @timcliff! I figured so much, cause when I waited a bit I was able to act again.
First thing I did was vote for you as a witness 😉 .
Really appreciate what you do for us here. I'm sure it takes up a lot of time.
Just wanted to let you know that I gave you a shoutout in my intro post, which I just published an hour ago. I don't want to self-promote my posts in comments, but you know where to find it if you're interested in learning a bit more about an enthusiastic new minnow.
I promise that you will feel entertained...
Thanks :)
