Hello Steemit Community,
As you may have seen in a post I made earlier, I was talking to my girl about getting into blogging here on Steemit?
I convince her to make an account and she gets this?
Does this mean Steemit is getting too popular?
This must have went into effect within the last few hours?
Will the Poloniex market go bull crazy if this news spreads as positive?
When will my girlfriend potentially receive an invite?
Will this invite be worth any money if I want to sell it to a blogger willing to pay for it?
I have so many questions...Does anyone have answers?
This is so exciting!!!
Cheers,
Rich T

This probably happened for 2 reasons. First, it's a good way to cut down on hacking. The hackers are just going after passwords that are easy to guess, or that have been used on accounts with the same username on other websites that have had their password databases stolen and released. So having less people signing up means that they can focus on the hack and making the platform more secure. Second, they probably want to get some more servers or something so that they can keep the servers up. I am not sure it happened for everyone, but the servers were down for like 4-5 hours during like 3-8 AM in the US. Then they were spotty around Noon. I don't think they have gone 24 hours without an outage since the DDoS attack. But I assume they are working on limited server space. 2 weeks ago STEEM wasn't even a Dollar. And now it's steady at $3-$4 and they are multi-millionaires many times over. But that literally turned in to what it is in value in the last 2 weeks. So they haven't even had time to really even start buying servers, and hiring a team. I assume that is what they are doing right now. Steemit is about to be like when you hear about people working for Google. Steemit could buy Reddit one day. Steemit could buy something like Occulous Rift. Steemit could end up doing a lot of stuff.
This is really good reasoning here.
I appreciate you taking the time to put some thought into it.
I was thinking some of the same things.
I posted earlier : https://steemit.com/steemit/@mastertrader777/steemit-team-should-update-the-exchange-partners-on-steemit-io-add-poloniex-a-s-a-p
When I realized the hadn't updated their website right away, it made me think well...They are probably so busy with trying to lock down the platform they aren't even thinking about the splash page.
It leads me to some other questions....
Is Steemit looking to hire mods of some sort...or would they be better called site admins?
What if Steemit gains some credible developers to help with the work load?
We might be able to see #STEEM really make a run for the hills to truly catch #Ethereum marketcap!
This could actually be very good news. It felt like there was a massive influx of "newborn" trash-posters recently. Hundreds (thousands?) of new members posting one-liners, worthless links, gobbledy-gook, self promotional spam or outright stolen content. Steemit needs to adress this issue, because sifting through the "new" section has become a nightmare.
Maybe make signups invite-only for the time beeing? With limited invite codes for members?
Very good points stormbringer. I don't think Steemit will speak much about it just yet. If they were smart, they would take their user acquisition data to a real shark for a few hundred million to invest!
well we the ones that got it in early are lucky that way it wont get as flooded as most of us all feared!! time to crunch some quality content everyone!
Yes things are going to really get interesting. I can't wait! So glad we are apart of it !
Its great news, Steemit is the spot ;-)
This I know! AMAZING NEWS...I'm kinda upset my girlfriend can't enjoy this with her own account...If only I sold her 1 hour earlier on getting one! ;)
I tried to get my girlfriend an account as well but steemit is full there taking queues.
How much do you think a steemit account is worth to some blogger really wanting to join? What are the rules about selling steemit accounts? Is it against the terms of service?
Steemit is still a niche for now, and at its inception stage with such growth, there is really no need to worry.
Lots of potential here! Not really worried, more excited than anything! I currently see 5-6 post a second being made..can't wait until its 200 post per second!
Thank you! Appreciate it!
weenis didn't give you a vote?
