With about 50,000 accounts using the Steem Platform daily, we've barely scratched the surface of what this platform is capable of. Steem & Steemit Inc. will have to innovate and evolve to keep and draw more active daily users, but that is a topic for a different post.
The Visual Capitalist puts out some great information and when you figure the arm of the NSA known as Fakebook has 2.4 Billion Monthly average users, one can imagine what would happen to the value of Steem if just a small percentage ever migrated over. As a matter of fact, Steem doesn't even register on the radar of this wonderful infographic.
Below are the top 10 Social Media Platforms by user base:
Compared to Steem, we have a long way to go...
I'm not sure what draws more users to Steem, but it requires more than has been happening. I've been using the site for almost a year and from a technical standpoint, nothing much has changed.
I am Lord @matthewwarn and I have Stackitis...but there are worse problems to have in life.

Wow, interesting stats!
$$$$ is what draws people to steemit and the fact that you can buy other cryptos with steemdollars and steem that you earn.
So steem needs to be at....
lets say 10$ and more, then everybody wants in.
Steemit deffo needs some marketing and adoption...
Its a good platform that very few people know about yet have the technical know-how to use. The barriers to entry are a real problem, so is ease of use.
Well, they just annunced the final date for the hardfork, January 15th.... I think with Smart Media Tokens everything is going to move up.
Only over a year late, if they hit this date which they failed to do in 2017...still no mobile App...at this point I'm hoping more than optimistic.
No mobile app? You mean official mobile app. I am using Steemia for Android and is one of the best apps I've used so far for Steem made by @steemia-io
Give it a try! :)

@matthewwarn.
Thanks for comparing the various social media platforms available today and their followers, The ball charts makes amply clear that the steemit team has an uphill task and some real hard work in store if they really are eyeing a pie of the global social media space. I personally think that steemit has all the ingredients to make it big and the technical team should wake up and bring out the necessary technical advancement in the steemit platform to keep pace with other channels or to make a cut above them.
thanx

Al though I enjoy Steemit, Steemit as it exists right now is just too clunky to be a good social media alternative. I'm still waiting for some very basic filtering and UI options, but that kind of improvement seems to be pushed onto the user base who want to develop for it.
Messaging would be nice, but encrypted messaging is my wishful thinking
very informative, i spent a geed few mins on the pic. i dont feel this interface is complicated, but i agree its dry. ui upgrade & a strong marketing campaign with endorsements would be worth a shot. steemit could possibly (hopefully) bury youtube if fed correctly.
