Why steemit backed? Wouldn't it be better to have a community governance initiative be community and witnesses backed. As a developer I would much sooner pledge my time resources to a Steemit INC independent community governance initiative than one where Steemit INC involvement could cause potential conflict of interests when situations arise that make it needed to choose between the profitability and the survival of a private company vs the good of the platform and the community.
Guess I can forget about anyone ending up heading this governance initiative to back something like Project Damocles.
Anyhow, nominating @emrebeyler, @therealwolf and @reggaemuffin.
while @ned brought the concept forward .. he's been very clear that Steemit Inc .. leadership and staff .. will not be involved. They are providing seed money, once further fundraising is done that influence will be watered down.

Still though, if at any point a direction is needed choosing between the interests of a private company in dire straits and the interests of the community or the in the interest of the future of the platform, such a seed could go a long way in shifting loyalties.
