just wait to powerup until you are going to power up way past 15 Steem. as I said, you instantly lose that 15 delegation... So it is worth powering up of course.. just make sure you are prepared to lose your delegation power... Which ideally means you should probably power up at least 30-50 sp to make it worth while... I would think?
Also btw, You have nothing to worry about, unless you have another account you are talking about. You have a ton of steem and none delegated right now. So you have nothing to lose and this post shouldn't be relevant to you anymore... Just something for newbies to watch out for... I would think.
I've learned some fun tricks about powering up and down too.... You could technically just power up ALL you steem. and then hit power down so that it sets a division of 1/13 of that max steem. Then every week you get that steem at you max out put. Wait till it powers down what you wanted out, and then every week you will have a steady amount of steem powering down that you can either re power up with or do whatever with.
The trick to this is that you will keep getting that higher amount of power down withdrawal based on when you originally powered down, and not based on the new balance as long as you leave it be... If I explained that correctly..... It's a good tactic now that they changed powering down to only 13 weeks... Powering down is not nearly the issue it use to be...
I had my 15 delegated points until just a few days ago, so I was wondering whether they do it when you reach a certain number of powersteem dollars - but then I recall seeing others who over a 1,000 still having their 15. So, I just checked a few and find they all don't have the delegated amounts anymore. Perhaps this is a new decision? btw, I recall that when I signed up, they 'gave' me $25, not 15, but I did not notice when they reduced it to 15. Also, at that time, they did not tell me they are lending me that amount, they said they are giving it to me to help me get started. Not that I'm complaining, at least I'm on my feet thanks to the help.
I was thinking I should wait until the US$ rate strengthens, if it does, and then powerup? I also guess you are saying, if I power dow, for example, 130, then I'll keep getting 10 a week, the power down does not reduce as the balance does. What I am not too happy about, is that the 10 a week is converted at the current exchange rate of that week. So, if the rate, as at start of year, is x8, I power down and then it drops to x2, all I'll get is the x2 equivalent.
I was thinking I should totally ignore the last figure (US$) and powerup just so as to increase my income (if that really happens).
Do you ever go on steemchat?
I was wondering if it was a new thing they were doing too.
But I did test it on two other accounts.
It happens the moment you power up or down.. If you never touch the power up or down button it won't remove the SP...
My wife's account still has all hers... she didn't touch the button, but the moment I powered up, both xt and cyber lost theirs, and the moment i powered down on nanocheeze I lost mine... I had 111 sp and 15 delegated until I did that. So, tehcnically, I threw away 45 delegated SP being dumb and doing tiny puny power ups...
But it is possible this is something they just started doing. But I am 92% sure it is directly linked to using the powerup/down.. I think the @Steem bot uses that as the triggered for recalculating the delegation amount. As long as u only collect SP rewards and don't power anything, you will keep it. At least that is how it appears to be working.. It would be cool to get confirmation on that from the steem bot :P lol
And yes I have tried the steemchat, didn't like it... maybe I'll try again later. :P
and I hear you on the selling thing, but as long as you preplan the power downs, it will be worth what steem is worth at the time. So it would only limit you by your weekly withdrawl, you just can't pump and dump all your steem... That's all it is meant for and that's why they dropped the power down rate to 13 weeks. 13 Weeks is nothing! Steem isn't going to die in the span of 13 weeks.. lol So I see no danger in doing a full power up. And actually, steem will dry up eventually.... And you won't be able to trade SBD for Steem.. Or it will cost many sbd to buy 1 steem. So be prepared for that too...
