I don't do it for a living, but know enough about it. I do agree there are ways to optimize content and pages with keywords. There is a disconnect between content and people's search habits, but overall Google is really trying hard to find organic relevance and so thinking too much about keywords may not be that effective in the long run. Google should try to create a blockchain and value weightings like Steem. lol.

I'm not talking about having a specific keyword focus. I'm just talking about writing things that people are searching for. The vast majority of the content on here isn't stuff people would be looking for in a search engine. I agree much of the content that is here could be good for picking up links compared to a short tweet or something like that, but picking up links is only a small portion of ranking well. There is also no incentive to rank well in the search engines for content producers since whales are not likely to find their content via search to then vote it up.
