This question is probably better answered elsewhere, but do you have a quick answer to why Steemit accounts are processed manually?
Initially, some SPs are delegated to new accounts so that they can participate. Therefore, Steemit has to verify new account is not a duplicate account that gets delegated SP. However, existing account can get another account with a cost (around 5 STEEM).
