[Whistleblowing] Another dangerous draining-reward-pool business was just born on Steemit? Here are my objections about @vote2ico initiative. This may end like SteemSports in 2016

To give this post a little bit more context, you should know that 4 days ago a post Introducing vote2ico was published by new @vote2ico team.

Today I did some more research about all of that and I decided to speak at loud to people, because I really think that this is might be a big problem in the future, if we will not recognize the problem right now.

I would like to emphasize, that I might be wrong and if you really think that I didn't get it, please explain it to me, what I do not understand.

During a video, I mentioned about potential partial solution for votes-buying. Actually I already described my idea on the bottom of my previous post. But to be honest, I really think that we should focus today on @vote2ico.

What are your thoughts about this? Am I right? Am i wrong? What I do not understand? Why this will be different from SteemSports? Is there a way to make vote2ico better? To fix it?

As I promised, I am declaiming payout from this post, to emphasize that I care about our community. If you think this is important, please upvote it for better visibility and resteem it if you wish. Cheers! @noisy

Dear @noisy, I don't want to sound to negative here but:

  1. The trending page has never showed true quality content from the perspective of an non-tech 'outsider', who is maybe interested in joining Steemit. For it to be enticing, you would need a good mix of art, photography, music, crypto, charity, technology, news and opinion pieces that appeal to a large crowd. We are a long way from that point, I don't think Steemsports or Vote2ICO would make a big difference to today's reality.
  2. About draining the reward pool, the only real factor here is the Steem distribution. Nearly all Steem is owned by a few whales, if they upvote a certain account, for whatever reason, it will affect the reward pool.

Vote2ICO is a symptom, but not the problem.

This sounds like:

Someone else broke it, so it will not make a difference if vote2ico will break it even more...

once again.... this is pointing fingers to big whales which according to your are responsible for current trending page. Does it means, that we should allow make it worse?

I am trying to fix/prevent one thing at the time. Sorry that I do not have solution for whole ecosystem right away.

I appreciate your efforts, @noisy, I do. I can certainly see you're only aiming at making Steem better for everyone and I applaud your efforts.

Yes, the whales are responsible for the trending page. Just take a look at the accounts that have upvoted those blog posts (which is the sole reason for trending), those are whale votes. Bought, trailed or manually curated, doesn't matter. With great Steem power comes great Steem responsability.

You are going down the right path. You are interested in and appear to care about the future of STEEM.

Doesn't it strike you as unusual that the folks that apparently have a lot of their money in STEEM, are not taking actions in the same direction?

Something smells bad in this state of Denmark.

Has anyone seen ghosts of dead kings recently?

STEEM ON
DaveB

An officer of the palace guard says this after the ghost of the dead king appears, walking over the palace walls. Note : “Something is rotten in the state of Denmark” is used to describe corruption or a situation in which something is wrong.

Upvoted, resteeedm, IMO @vote2ico is going to ruin steem economy in a log run

I haven't heard about it, thanks for informing me of potential threat.
Steem is free and thats why we love it, but also this freedom is paradiase for frauds like that.
Resteemed and upvoted for visibility.

Thanks for this post! Good for newcomers also to understand what's the vision of steem and how to keep STEEM growing!

Upvoted and resteemed... good job @noisy

Thank you for calling this out. Just found the vote2ico and was thinking the same thing!

Thank you for explaining to me the real value of my vote :)

I have hearing problems (half deef)
I couldn't understand what you said in the video

good job!!!

I don't see an issue here. You basically just assert that it's bad and that it's not of value.

Another dangerous draining-reward-pool business

If I'm not mistaken, hundreds lost money in the recent @bellyrub belly up.

I'm sure the pay-to-play upvote will eventually only attract new, unsuspecting users; which is why posts such as yours, at least offers warning.

Btw, we need to require a human face (CEO) attached to these upstarts.

Hiding behind avatars, while taking millions from Steemians, is bad business.

Btw, thank you very much for working through, and sharing this post in English.

Also, it's been two days and the defense?...crickets...hmmm....

Peace.

We have the pictures of the owner of bellyrub

It's just a sad story. The up-side is an opportunity for a life-lesson learned. If it looks too good to be true....trust your inner compass...It probably is.

Peace.

So you sayin.this is not a about right and wrong.this is about money and profit.you flaggin to koreans because they hurting your future profit.my understading is correct?

Like this guy, he is being honest with what he thinks...
