One thing that strikes me is that its backed by something. One of the most common critisms you here about bitcoin:
"There is no way it can be worth that much, its not backed by anything!" To which someone will inevitably respond.
"You mean just like fiat?"
Sure, but when did we start treating fiat as the gold standard (pun totally intended)? I can't say for certain (ie, I'm not putting my money where my mouth is and pulling out of other coins) but I see a free market chosing backed currencies over unbacked. And while I want them to exist, cryptos backed by physical assets like gold are nonideal for a general currency. They are centralized, someone controls the keys to the warehouse.
So if we need a cryptocurrency backed by something digital, why not social content and social influence?
