I know the title made it sound like I was about to ask this question, but I'd genuinely like to know. Would be great to get people's opinions. It all seems a bit too good to be true to me. Post your opinions below. Would be great to hear from people that have been here a while.
one problem is that the site is missing a lot of features that people have come to expect from social media platforms. lack of private messaging for example, severely limits depth of connections to other users.
and does anyone know where to view metrics? like is there a site that graphs info like # of users over time? i'm curious as to whether it actually is growing and how fast. i think if the devs worked on the site a bit (just on the features) and put some money into marketing/promoting, this could be very successful and lucrative for some users.
Firstly I think Steemit limits itself by mainly being a bloging posting platform. But over time I think many people will gravitate to steemit and develop little niche sites like already herein. Food or photography have solid audiences and sports seem to have a lot of followers.
No one can say the price of steem has fallen. Someone just overpriced it by eighteen hundred percent. Economics show the price of steem will fall to its law of supply and demand and that is now approaching something like stability nears its current price point.
Over time steemit will develop a following and grow into its own niche marketplaces. People will post either because they like to post or becasue they can earn some money. The main reason steemit is quieter now is most of the click baiters and bots have been dealt with.
Time will tell but steemit is worth having ; )
I see this working as long we all repost on our facebooks. I think the world is ready for a more free social network. Loads of people do not like facebook any more. It might take some time to get traction though!
Thanks for the reply. It's possible, I also feel like people are a little overwhelmed with all the social media sites out there. What about the viability of making money on here? What do you think about that? :)
I think its viable. Right now the price is extremely undervalued. As long users stay engaged, and the community keeps growing like it does. I think it can actually go over a dollar pretty soon. We do need to get all our friends in though! It's all about spreading the news. Who doesn't want a free social network that pays them? It's the smarter thing to do! Maybe we need some tv commercial. What if we all chip in for that!
I am interested to know if the focus of steemit is still to eventually get its value of steem back up, as alot of people are saying they would be happy with how its valued at now because posting on other social sites its valued at zero.
