By 1923 Eugene would be described as one of the 'thoroughly Ku Kluxed cities of Oregon. Resent Eugene was once actively a Sundown Town as well. A Sundown Town is “any organized jurisdiction that for decades kept African Americans or other groups from living in it and thus “all-white” on purpose…from about 1890 – 1968, white Americans established thousands of towns across the United States”

I'd like to think one of the reasons we write history down is so that we can learn from the text instead of repeating the same mistakes, much like listening to a friend's experience and learning from it as if it is your own. Please, let us focus on progress and teaching our offspring to move as far away from these regressive, violent mentalities as possible. Teach love and logic, not hate.
"Humans have come into being for the sake of each other, so either teach them, or learn to bear them." -Marcus Aurelius, from Meditations
It is quite sad, the people who feel they are the most patriotic are sometimes the people most demoting the position of our nation in the global scheme of things. This is really more a humanitarian issue then political crisis. I've always thought that almost any form of government could work if humans actually functioned as we perceive ourselves. I love you friends, stand up for all of humanity and this planet we've been gifted with.
My apologies for not posting a more informational text. A series of disturbing attacks by radical right-wing extremists in my home state has been shaking me lately and I needed to vent quickly. Keep up the good work friends. Bits not Bombs. Thank you from the depths of my soul for reading my posts, it's truly appreciated!
