We're pretty much in the beginning of the social media blockchain revolution and I am very happy to announce the top 3 blockchain platforms (and sub-platforms) I have found so far that
- Are intuitive and well designed
- Earn you cryptocurrency
- Covers all the aspect you had on traditional social media platforms
- Has a mobile application

Platforms I've Checked Out So Far
- Steem (most sub platforms)
- Minds.com
- Lit
- Gab.ai
- SOLA
- Peepeth
- Yours
- LBRY
I've ordered these more or less in order of likeness. I'll dive into the top 3 later, but for the rest I'll quickly explain.
- Gab.ai is the most up and coming, but I feel it's not fully on par with the major ones I use now. I also don't believe there is an earning aspect either. It mostly falls short in terms of the way posts look and the UI comparatively to Minds which is most similar to.
- SOLA again like Gab.ai could be a competitor falls short in the way posting works and the way they're displayed. On SOLA you do earn on their platform so that definitely is an upside, but the design is too simple and a little intuitive (I was always like wait where is my profile?).
- Peepeth is awesome, it's basically Minds, but you have to pay Ether for everything you do. I made a video post that cost me 2$. The idea is that everyone pays for their bandwidth and people pay you to view it. The problem is that just isn't how it works on social, no one pays for anything especially without seeing it. Minds allows people to see your content, but give you the option to have posts only paid subscribers can see etc. That is a great solution to this.
- Yours felt like a low quality version of Steemit (there was little to no imagery)
- LBRY just isn't functionable at a realistic level for widespread use yet in my opinion. I know there are more and I'll check them out. Please suggest any you use or offer rebuttals to what I've said here in the comments below :)

Now let's dive into each of the top 3 main platforms I use and talk about why they are the best and what platforms they resemble and features they cover. I want to do my due diligence in my explaining of the actual platforms, so in terms of how to use Minds and Lit I will do individual guides / reviews. I will do the same for some of the main sub platforms I use on Steemit as well.
Steem and its subplatforms
Steem has a great number of platforms that rewards you with cryptocurrency and resemble a lot of the major social platforms people typically find today.

- @Busy - Twitter like (however the platform doesn't encourage posts as short as tweets)
~ There are many many others however the main ones I wanted to touch on were these in how they relate back to traditional social platforms
Minds - https://www.minds.com
Minds is amazing and honestly it would out perform Steem if it were truly decentralized, more open source, and had more functionality than just a social platform (Steem/Steemit etc. offers so much more like investing). Minds is also an ERC token so it's not proprietary. It is easy to use and has an intuitive UI. I've really enjoyed using it as it has been able to offer me several things Steem didn't have.
- Easier to navigate
- Better profile setup and editing
- Communities/Groups
- Native chat feature
- Verified (super users)
Cons compared to Steem and other platforms
- More centralized
- Tokens can't be withdrawn yet
- No investment options
- Not as secure or censorship resistant (they are anti-censorship though)
It has the user base and support that is needed to function well. Because they anti-censorship you do have to do your own share of muting and blocking, but it's for the better of our free speech.

Lit is very new and I can't wait to do a review on it and make a guide because it is the final piece to the puzzle that blockchain was lacking: stories.
Stories as in short videos uploaded typically in portrait mode to deliver a quick message or update. This resembles Instagram stories, Snapchat, or what Vine used to be. The majority of social functionality has been covered in some way except for story updates and that is why Lit is such an ideal option!
Like Minds and Steemit you earn tokens based on views and likes for your content. You can share quick updates to the world and your friends and earn by doing so!

Thanks so much! Yes I'm verified and use Minds.com to promote my steemit and have a more simplistic post style similar to Twitter. It also has groups and chat natively and a great app. Their main cons compared to steemit is the cryptocurrency/financial aspect of earning

Yeah so I'm mostly working on Twitter, Instagram, and a bit on Facebook. I do work with Steepshot, but I'm trying to actually get more and more into cryptocurrency and blockchain projects and clients. I want to push for people to get on blockchain social platforms like Steemit, Minds, Gab.ai, Sola, Peepeth, Patreon, Bittube, etc.
So lately I've been starting to push to find companies that want to start establishing here which would be mostly crypto and blockchain tech related organizations and individuals because that's the majority of the audience. As more people adopt so will more businesses. I aim to start the first blockchain social agency. ALSO having brands here will encourage the rest of the mainstream adoption

one more question @scottcbusiness
you mentioned that you promote cryptos/icos for a living. do you usually get paid with usd or do you accept payment with crypto ? let's say that some ICO would contact you and ask to make a review for them and they would pay you using their own tokens.
Im curious what do you do in such a situation.

well I do long term projects and not just like getting paid one time for a review. Typically it's more about managing their social media. I do accept crypto payments given they are or will be on an exchange
