The First Blockchain Social Media Marketing Initiative

As far as I'm concerned and have seen there is essentially no presence of marketers onboarding influencers and businesses. This is a major issue because many people are confused by the blockchain so professionals and brands need help transitioning and rightly so because it can be confusing indeed.

This is just going to be a super basic post as to why this would benefit Steem and other blockchain social media platforms but also offer an invaluable service to people trying to expand their social networks and earn money by doing so. I am putting this out here to see if there are any persons or groups interested in partnering up to try to do this. Now I can and may just end up doing this alone, but I'm sure there are other marketers out there looking to get into this as well. With my call to action stated I'll dive in.

Why Do We Want Influencers And Brands On Steem?

Well, the simple answer is we need them for mass adoption to be a practical reality. Another answer is, many of these brands and influencers ALONE have more people following them than users on Steemit and the Steem blockchain. The longer answer is people trust brands and influencers and we simply need their endorsement to make Steem the next big thing. The average person today trusts an influencer's opinion above most and as we continue onboarding more, we will naturally see more and more start follow.

Why Should They Bother?

Bid bots have introduced the capabilities of advertising where you can more or less earn back your investment and potentially earn a profit on top of that while still getting exposure and awareness. Now this is done via private entities who we have no control over and they don't answer to anyone, but because it's ultimately win-win, why wouldn't companies and influencers get ahead and get on this train? Well there aren't enough people and typically brands only inject themselves into established networks. This is why we have to show them why this makes sense and why they need to indulge it.

What's The Next Step?

First and foremost I'd like to identify marketers and entrepreneurs looking to get into this. I know if we target the right brands and influencers in cryptocurrency, blockchain, and technology, we could really do them justice and make an impact from traditional social onboarding to Steemit. I say those three because a large portion of our users are very tech savvy so brands that fit into the category would fit in well here. After I assemble or don't assemble a team I will be moving forward with trying to get a blockchain social agency in the works.

I agree with you on this, it could even help jack the price up

Yeah exactly, so much good for so many

An interesting proposition from the "mass adoption" angle; on the other hand, makes me wonder if that would spell the end for "regular" bloggers on Steemit? If the rewards pool is mostly going to end up in the hands of companies and major influencers... will "original content" gradually be replaced by "promotional content" and this ends up little more than a giant advertising pool?

I guess that could be OK if your primary relationship with Steem is that of "investor," rather than "content creator."

Yeah but how can content creators get rewarded without a larger user base? That comes with mass adoption which comes with brands anyway. I'm just saying speed up the process. It will all come I assure you. They won't dominate the trending anyway because people would flag it, no one would feel bad punishing a corporation for overpromoting. It makes sense

This idea is awesome but the question is: How will they be incorporated here?
How will they be brought to be part of steemit?
Nice post

I guess the worry is, will they disrupt what we have going? I don't think so. Again if they overpromoted people would flag it. Ideally they would stick to the right tags so as to keep the niches clean and relevant. It's a natural step into any social media platform evolution

Count me in... Im up with this. Whats next?

Wow, this is great @scottcbusiness. Thanks for your thoughtful post.

Thanks :D

Hi Scott Thank you very much for that! I need to learn this platform! But good article!

From the brands and investors I've spoken with, most are not interested at this time. I've expressed what I've heard on a variety of commentary but mostly they feel that Steem would be bad for their brand. @dflo and I were talking about this a few weeks ago.

The main reason is because of the social dynamics and disagreements here. Bid bots are not seen as a form of promotion to everyone. And some actively flag boosted posts or self-voted posts and the expense of being here is unpredictable and hard to budget for.

One brand I spoke with was formerly on Steem and left because their company updates were constantly criticized and flagged, and their self-voting was criticized. For the cost, and because fans mostly just want votes, they left.

People are essentially afraid of being disliked. Businesses here are usually disliked.

I have no personal issue about this. And I'm looking to onboard more with Steemtipathon and Steemdaily. But I'm personally aiming for small brands within niches that already exist here and niches with a tough hyde.

Steemtipathon essentially IS doing this very thing, and has already onboarded a half dozen in the pilot.

My focus is specific though such as established wordpress bloggers, established video bloggers in categories that are already popular on steem like gaming, comic book stores, indie record labels, established indie musicians, and other tribes I think could thrive in the dynamic.

Hi Omni, its interesting you bring this up right now because even though I am not an influencer currently, as I move slowly toward developing a coaching and counseling business for myself, I am actually finding it harder and harder to prioritize my activities on Steeemit. I love it here, but as a business I am finding it harder to justify the risk, even at the small amounts that I am currently working with. I have to focus on the aspects of my company and marketing and development that show most likely , and most rapid growth potential. My heart is truly here. I think this is a super amazing platform and I am still steadily applying thought here.. its just that my efforts here have slowed down to once weekly rather than once daily, because I need to push other things that also take time , networking, program development, etc. I still want to understand and get into the tipbot thing because I agree with you that is a really helpful bridge between here and other platforms. Anyway I thought I would share this perspective since you mentioned me :) . It would be great to figure out a way to hold people like me here in a constant active pattern. But when my posts cant guarantee a larger pull then I have to just focus on the things that will for now. Which is a catch - 22 because I am sure I am losing followers and interest as I adjust to a new pattern of engagement. So I am either going to downward spiral , or ramp back up soon haha. I think i will be okay, but anyway... throwing that out here.

But realistically this is the cheapest option, it's not hard to budget for I could ask for 100$ from a client and use that indefinitely and get them way more real exposure than they'd get from 100$ worth of Facebook ads or even 500$. My aim was at least for now cryptocurrency, blockchain, and technology companies would be good to onboard as they'd be accepted and eventually everything will find its place. I mean obviously I want everyone on here. Realistically it's alot easier for me to convince a brand to get onto something new which attracts their customers than it is for me to tell an influencer to learn about another platform. In a perfect world I'd just onboard hip hop artists.

I completly agree with you @scottcbusiness

using influencers and their services is way more cost effective than using any sort of ads

In the future, It will come but now, the community need to do something :)

Much remains to be seen but i can see some merit to this. 👌

Yeah I mean my day job I'm a marketer, so if I can infuse that with Steemit and spend more time Steeming and benefit everyone, then it makes sense to me :P

hi @scottcbusiness

This is indeed brilliant idea. Im here mostly because I want to get to know valuable people from crypto industry but at the same time Im building my reach as a social media marketer fully aware that demand for people like us (you, me and many others) will be only growing.

I read your post carefully (I believe) but Im not sure how do you plan to assemble your team?

Yours, Piotr

Well first here, I wanted to see who's interested and gauge it and go from there

Make sense. I believe that demand for social media services in this industy will be only growing.

Thx for reply. Hope to hear from you again @scottcbusiness. We seem to share similar goals

Yours
Piotr

Yeah for sure!

That is a great idea. It would be daunting if there is knowledge about the blockchain and crypto. However, it is in learning and educating ourselves that we can accept changes.

Yeah exactly!

Clever analysis!
