Book Reviews - I feel is new for Steemit. Isn’t it an excellent idea? I am sure a lot of my readers are book lovers. Here I go with my first book review which is also my most favourite book so far.
JAYA - An Illustrated Retelling of the Mahabharata by Devdutt Pattanaik
Jaya is actually the real name of the Mahabharata epic. This book is an easy read, compared to the original verses collection.
Mahabharata is a huge, enormous epic from India. It’s the longest epic poem of the world, originally written in Sanskrit. And Mr. Devdutt Pattanaik is a world-renowned author.
Talks of Swarga, Vaikuntha, Gods, Goddesses, Saints, Trees, Astronomy, Moon, Sun, Deities and what not, cover this grand book from India. And, the cool part is - it is beautifully illustrated with more than 250 drawings. It has such facts and fascinating new discoveries about the Mahabharata story which you have not heard of or seen in TV adaptions, stage plays or any other form of art.
This book shows us how aware and enlightened this author is about the greatest epic ever. Reading it whole is a big job in itself and boy, you do not feel like doing any work. It's entertaining and enlightening, whether or not you are pre-aware of the subject. Mahabharata is a thrilling and intriguing story in itself. And this retelling is an inspiring look into the other side of the story, so to say.
It's Kindle and paperback, both are available on Amazon!
I insist, please read it if you have the slightest interest in this topic. Or if you are interested in mythology and history of any kind. Post comments if you plan to read, or already have read. Let me know what you think. And, let me know if you want me to write more book reviews. Till then, chao!
