Facebook always takeover something that's better than Facebook and have very high potential or could be a potential threat to Facebook in the future.
Previous Takeovers
Facebook bought Instagram, because it was the best daily photo sharing app.
Facebook bought WhatsApp, because it was the best messaging app.
Facebook copied the concepts of various apps which it failed to acquire.
Facebook copied Story option from Snapchat, which now they have in Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp
Facebook copied group work from Slack.
What Facebook will do in the future?
Even the idea of facebook wasn't original. Its a ripoff of Myspace. But Facebook is doing fine now. It either buy good app that could be a potential tread to Facebook in the future, or copy the idea if it fail to acquire.
But what about steemit?
My prediction is, in 5 years Steemit will be have more users than Facebook (takeover Facebook) or Facebook will start paying it's user like steemit.
What's your prediction? Comment if you disagree or have a different idea.

Steemit has more potential, business model of both platforms are very different, facebook is slowly becoming thing of the past. I think steem will takeover facebook .
@bluemist If that's the case, we, the early steem users will be benefited the most. But if this doesn't happen and facebook copy the idea and start paying the users maybe by making facebook coin or something, then the sluts who show their body to get thousands of likes in facebook will be the one who gets the most of it. :P
You post seems interesting, upvoted and will look future posts from you
Thanks @bluemist :)
But facebook is corporate based company, they will not easily allow or amend their model to share their profit with people and about that 2nd point, i think it has already started here also , maybe you can check my post about it

In order for steemit to be "taken over" by facebook, it would have to be agreed upon that the company could be sold to them.
On the other point, Fakebook is FAR too greedy to pay people for posting...
Steemit is as crazy an idea as America was in it's infancy. An open, democratic system where everyone has something to gain, and freedom is nearly boundless. Facebook is more like North Korea...
Very interesting example quoted ;)
@thatsweeneyguy I completely agree with you, that Facebook is greedy. BUT the thing is facebook need its users to STAY. Reason why it copied the story thing of snapchat, fearing that people might shift to snapchat from facebook. My point is if by paying a little Facebook can keep the user active, isn't it better than JUST BEING GREEDY and left with nothing!
steemit has a big potential and as many people joining and using it, steemit will continue to grow.
it certainly will @adrianmendoza
