I know you're very excited about your new app built on the Steem Blockchain but here's one thing not to do.
This is not going to be a long epistle. The answer is straightforward.
Stop naming your app after Steem.
It's something I have noticed and it's something I have tried to think about. Why do all the apps I've seen built on the Steem Blockchain get a "Steem" somewhere in their names?
I'm big on names and maybe it's because I come up with them quite easily. Product name, design, and functionality in that order. That's how I fall in love with these things.
Apps on the android platform do not have "droid" attached to their names.
Ethereum has apps built on it and although some of them carry the "ether" tag, there are a few that have seen the light. Augur. Gnosis. Digix. All built on the Ethereum Blockchain.
You could build an app based on the Steem Blockchain, give it a completely unique name, and still let people know it was built on Steem. Yes it's possible.
Creativity is a very important aspect of capturing people's attention. When you see "Square" you want to find out what it does.
We should be creative so that in our quest to create a "YouTube killer" on Steem, we don't go calling it "SteemTube" or "YouSteem" or anything-Steem!
End of rant.
I somewhat agree. It depends on the application. I think @xeroc's choice of the name Piston was a great one.
"Video Stream" :D go generic as fuck that works wonders . But I do agree with you, everything is still in its infancy and mostly concerning steem so yeah , well take a look at project curie or busy org I guess they are a good example of names that are creative and not SteemB.org and Project SteemitCurie :D
Busy.org is cool af!
Curie could have been Steemuration (because curation on Steem) lol
Generic could be cool too. Breaking out of the norm.
Rebel.
#minnowsunite :D I mean steemians , steemarians :P
Most of the time names are fine , they can get rebranded later, I'm not even acquainted with the 100s of apps here , just found out there was a radio :D
