RE: Steem experiment: Burn post #546

in #steem5 years ago (edited)

There is plenty of that already being done, unfortunately with limited results in terms of retention and growth. IMO it is better to limit downward pressure on the price until real world experience shows a successful growth model for turning spend into users. At that point, yes, we should direct as many resources as possible to such a model, but not before.

To create onboard Tickets with the Steem burn them also with the benefit of new users

Not quite sure what you mean by this. As far as know it isn't currently possible to create account tickets by burning Steem, but that could be a good idea for a future upgrade.

Sort:

oh ok, i thought is like claiming with RC. It sucks and it should be fixed

Here you can claim new account tickets, which you can then use to create new Steem accounts. The tickets can be paid with STEEM or resource credits (RC) and they don't expire over time, so you can collect them without the need of spending them for new accounts immediately.

So it is possible and Burnpost is a waste²

Pending payout amount: $44.04
Breakdown: 0.00 SBD, 112.92 STEEM, 112.92 SP for this post

Yes anyone can claim tickets whether voting for burnpost or not (as long as they have enough available resource credits). It doesn't come out of reward pool or otherwise burn Steem.

sure but the steem that burns can used for this.

What do you think brings long Term more value " Burn Steem" or " onboard users ( Support projects that onboard)". IMO it is a waste of resources.

I'm all for onboarding. Here's the problem: No one has demonstrated that they can actually do it successfully. Not Steemit, not any of the projects claiming to onboard (some with large delegations which they usually monetize to their own benefit directly or indirectly). No one. The user base is stagnant to shrinking.

If someone demonstrates a method that can successful turn some reasonable budget in STEEM per new user into actual users who retain past early attrition then I will be the first one lining up to support such a project, and encouraging others to do so as well. I don't see it anywhere.

Its not that hart to onboard.

Step 1: Find and Pay a good online marketer.

Step 2: Let him make Guest posts, Video Marketing, Sponsored Videos .... that show all the benefits and of course it can be made in a big scale in different languages .

Step 3: Make the Onboarding fucking easy for the target group.

It works for onbaord Devs, Investors, user and content creator.

But nobody does this because it cost time, money and you only really benefit from it if you have a huge stake.

Thats the reason Steemit inc need to do this because they benefit the most.

But before SBD need to be removed or changed to a copy from DAI. Because next Bull ( if it happens) it will look like a Scam Site.

It's hard to explain to people (old and new ones) that a $ 1 token is not worth $ 1.
