With Steem and Steem Dollars booming at the moment I expect to see the world take notice. I found this story on popular financial advice site The Motley Fool. They list a dozen coins that they think are better investments than Bitcoin.
Steem Dollars are included as an 'off the cuff' option. I'm not sure all their information is right. They say you can't buy them on exchanges, but isn't that where they are being boosted? They also say you get 10% interest, but I don't think that's the case now. They don't mention the current price, but it may bring in more users. It's a shame they don't provide links.
I do find it amusing that they show physical coins to represent cryptocurrencies. They can seem intangible.
I've not established if the author is on Steemit yet.
I'm currently holding some SBD and considering whether to sell for Steem. I may cash some out for now. My other half thinks I should sell more whilst Steem is high, but I'd have to power down and I think it will go higher this year anyway.

I am absolutely gutted this week at the Steem price hike. I sold 415 steem on bittrex to btc with the intention of buying it back cheaper and making a small increase in Steem! I sold at $4 which I thought was an awesome price...until it went to $8!! doh! Now I am licking my wounds and decided to invest in some other altcoins with my btc, so I have bought ADA and FUN, which I have already made a small profit from over the last 24 hours, but I am still gutted about losing my steem :(
I don't trade, so I may go with the flow. I hope you recover your losses. Trends are upwards
Hi Steve, interesting days indeed.
I hope the current rally in steem is sustainable. I prefer a slow and steady rise rather than sudden jumps.
Even if it falls back to consolidate at around $5 I think it will then continue to rise after a breather up to $10 over the next few weeks.
When APPICS comes out, if it is a successful launch and no overhyped competitor pops up to steal the limelight, I could see steem trekking on towards $15 - $20 by the summer.
That should take steem towards a top 25 ranking on Coinmarketcap at least. Although given the technology it offers compared with many of the alt-coins above I would say steem deserves a top 15 placement at a minimum.
It is interesting about the Motley article. With the sudden jump steem will be getting more crypt media attention. Indeed my Google Alerts have already started bringing in articles like this :

It's from Bitwala. I've used it for a few things including a guitar and my trip to Steemfest. It needs topping up. I just realised I can use Bitcoin Cash on it. That may have less fees than using Bitcoin.
I have the same thing going on. People dont see the big picture. They'd rather see some bills paid now than enjoy the fruits of effort later
Exactly. I'll take some out when I need it, but will keep most of it powered up. Just the weekly rewards are a nice amount to spend

If they say SBD over Steem i feel like they have not done there research and are just looking at recent growth as for Steem it seems it won't be long until it touches $10.
It looks like they just read an old article about it, but at least Steemit got a mention

You can buy SBD on Bittrex. I keep some of my earnings there and have bought some too when it dipped down to $7 from that big spike we saw a few weeks ago.
I have a feeling we’re gonna see a lot of not quite correct info coming out about cryptos from the mainstream this year. They don’t care too much about the details. It’s all about the hype.
@steevc I Love STEEM and I know a lot of people are going to do very well during 2018 and beyond. Heck I think even @jerrybanfield will hit his projection of $10 per STEEM very soon !!

Good article. Do you have any theories as to why there is a demand for SBD as oppose to Steem? Is it media outlets like this pumping it, having no clue that its not really a cryptocurrency? My instinct is to trade SBD for Steem right away, but I'm acting on such little information. All I know is that SBD is supposed to pegged to dollar. However, like most Steemians, I am fine with it being higher, :D
For some reason certain markets decided that SBD was a good bet. We don't really want it to fluctuate as that makes it less useful for trade. There are some efforts to bring it back down to the peg, but it's not easy. I've been selling it for Steem too as you got such a good rate. You don't get as much Steem now, but then that's worth more anyway. I intend to keep powering up, but plan to take some out to spend. I feel I've earned that.

These are some exciting times! I think that any outside references to this place will undoubtedly bring people in to check it out that previously had no idea about Steem/Steemit.

I think it's good that Steem and Steem Dollars raise. But it would be probably better with a constant growth. All this up and down jumps that characterize all cryptocurrencies are quite instable and it is quite difficult to understand the blog real value.
However I think that I will start powering up as much as possible and then see!
Steady growth is probably more sustainable. I worry we will see a crash later as people cash-in

Interesting post my friend! I think they are underestimating the power SBD... and giving some misleading information.. But good thing is SBDs are getting much more attention now... and its a good sign for all of us... I think you should hold the SBDs yet... They are going to touch atleast $12 very soon... and $15 is not far away... as I have spent some time previously reading Forex charts!!! So, from my little experience I see SBDs going up... Happy Steeming!!!!
