I would like to propose a UK meetup event for next weekend. I have been to a few in London and it would be cool to get some of those people to come and visit the countryside. I know a lot of them are keen photographers, so I thought we could combine a walk in the country with discussion of Steem and cryptocurrency in general. I will invite some other friends who may be interested.
What I propose is to meet up at #Arlesey station at 3pm on Sunday 21st July. There is a direct train from King's Cross (departing at 14:15) that arrives around then. Others could drive and there is ample parking at the station.
From there we will walk along the River Hiz through the Glebe Meadows and Old Moat nature reserves. There are opportunities to see birds such as kingfishers, swans, white egrets, red kite and maybe even a barn owl.
When we reach the meadow where these horses hang out at the other end of the village we will return along the road so I can point out some local landmarks. We will end at the Old Oak pub near the station for refreshments, but I do not think they serve food then. You may want to bring along some snacks. The walk should not be much more than an hour depending on conditions and whether people want to extend it a little.
Along the way and at the pub we can talk about our experiences with cryptocurrency and I hope there will be some people along who are keen to learn more about it. It would be great to get a few more people on Steem. I have friends who have joined, but are not active and may just need some inspiration.
I am hoping the weather will be good, but I advise stout footwear. I am happy to do this even if only a couple of people turn up, but please let me know if you are coming. I will confirm if it is going ahead by Friday.

A little far for me, hope some turn up. At least your crowd will be able to walk the next day. Last climb I did resulted in serous DOMS... with no fells around you cant really climb them.
It's not meant to be a challenging walk and that keeps it open for more people. More about what you can see. We have some hills around here, but you might not even notice them :)

That would be great. I've tried to find a time so people could come after lunch and still get back at a reasonable time. You have a long way to come.
Regarding the pub in not sure we will be there by 4. We are not exactly overloaded with food outlets here
Sounds real nice... but I'm up north. Hmnnn this is making me think I should try and organise one of these walks in the peak District 🙂

I would love to do this alwyas miss being in nature. What are the actual dates will see if I am free.

Ah man, I'm meeting @cheese4ead in Oxford that day otherwise I'd be well on my way there to meet more steem folks from the UK! I haven't been to Arlesey before either, looks like a nice place to walk around.

Yea I'd like that man, it doesn't feel like there are many UK folks on the platform so would be good to get to know them! I felt inspired by @jayna's post about their steem meet up in the USA.

There are a lot of Steemians around London. As I said I have a few local friends who signed up, but are not using it.
There are a couple of UK Discord channels, but they seem inactive. I will post the event on them anyway to see if anyone notices.
