Today's trawl of the news sites finds Yahoo Finance recommending Steem. They say you can make hundreds of dollars from a post, but we know that's unlikely for most of us. Still, if you want to acquire some small amounts of cryptocurrency with buying it then Steemit is a good way to go. A few thoughtful comments can make you dollars a week.
The article also recommends Nem, Ethereum (or Classic) and Stellar.
Like most such articles they use stock pictures of actual coins to represent these currencies.
I was at another Syncherts meeting last night where they had some 'lightning talks', five minutes on a topic. One of these was on Bitcoin and blockchain. I managed to discuss Steemit with some of the people there. At least they are aware of it now.
Steem on!
I'm Steve, the geeky guitarist.
I'll buy guitar picks for Steem Dollars

This must be part of the reason facebook/zuckerberg is looking into cryptos & blockchain....fear of loss. They have the audience but it may just be a way to increase profitability for the organization, not for their users.
We'll see what they roll out...
FB may introduce their own currency at some point. It makes sense when their userbase is bigger than any country and if they want people to trade there more effectively. How they back it up is another issue
It will be interesting to see what they roll out.
great report on Yahoo news @steevc
I appreciate your updates on what is going on out there in internet world and it is great you were able to introduce Steemit to actual humans.
I would be interested in what you said sometimes..
I just told them what it was. The talk on bitcoin had a slide with lots of crypto logos and Steem was on there
I looks like the yahoo writer doesn't aware or have a few knowledge about the currency he or she write. Even the use of picture, 4 coin in recommendation but use other coin emblem.
That's journalism for you right there. Most journalist like this will get told to write about something like this without having any prior experience in the field, and do their research in an hour or two. They are obviously not able to be very knowledgeable about something as complex as cryptos in such a short time.
At least the yank news sites now seem to have crypto on their radars. The brit ones are still waaay behind.
Is Yahoo still going? They're turning into SCO. :-D
Yahoo finance has been a key source for writing seo articles for me back in 2012. I remember how this was the first company who email service I used. Their Blackberry service is still known to many. So this talks a lot about their credibility. Fast forward...from year 1999 to 2018...I'm no more using Yahoo search engine rather it's Steemit that has got all my interest. I love Steemit and Yahoo for covering it. I appreciate that you brought this post here.
I don't know about hundreds of dollars but one sure can make atleast 40$ a month which he or she can then use it for retirement savings. Saving 40$ a month makes it 480$ at the end of the year. 480$ is not bad. If the value of SBD increases then it will even be more. Look at the value of bitcoin and ethereum. See how they increased with time.
SBD needs to stabilise so it's useful again. If Steem improves then we will all be okay
Would you care to elaborate on this, @steevc? I don't think I completely understand how SBD is useful even if it is pegged at $1.
As I understand it a pegged currency is useful for trade as you know how much something will cost. Then people are more likely to spend it. We have this currency with fast, free transfers, but people are just holding it
Ah, that makes sense! It would actually be very nice if it was 100 % pegged to $1 in that case, cause then we have a very nice cryptocurrency to use for buying and selling non-crypto stuff! I have just been thinking of it like a regular cryptocurrency until now, but what you say sounds very nice. Thanks for explaining :)
I'm active in several digital marketing groups for many years at Facebook. Many of these groups never posted anything about BTC/cryptocurrency until it became a very popular topic a couple of months ago. Now, I see that cryptocurency discussion dominates in these groups. This tells a lot about what's going to happen in future. Thanks for sharing this article. This is encouraging. Good job @steevc.
Steem On!
Is Steem discussed much there? I hope people are talking about utility and not just speculation
Not much but I have seen posts about ICOs and mostly about top 25 coins at coinmarketcap. I've posted steemit link at my Facebook wall and for that reason, people keep asking me about it. I'm very much hopeful about the future of Steemit.
Steemit is growing day by day. Many people are staring to believe the ripple effect it is creating lately. lets hope it gets better.
I have heard people saying that it will help with utility. Lets wait and see if its just speculation.
@steevc, It seams like everyone are starting attracting people here with magic word, money or better say, easy money...No one tells true about time and effort, and benefits of connecting people and creativity, which was one of the main ideas here..And I believe still is for some of us. And what happens, people come in crowds, spaming, begging and turning place into jungle.
True to say I don't like that kind of Steemit advertising, but also it's something that can't be skipped.
It's great to see Steem getting written about on big websites such as Yahoo, and it will hopefully bring in some new users to join us! Thanks for letting us know about the article, @steevc :)
Hey dear @steevc this is a great news that Yahoo a very prominant in IT sector since last 2 decades is recommending steemit. This could be a big day for steemians.
Also they mentioned some coins mean they believe on cryptocurrency. That's very healthy news.
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful stuff. Keep it up and stay blessed !
Keep the good work on @steevc. continue propagating the good news of Steem it. I know for sure that Steemit is here to change lifes. Forward ever backward never.
Everyone believes it too easy to win the money on Steemit. Thank you @steevc for this report
"They say you can make hundreds of dollars from a post, but we know that's unlikely for most of us. Still."
Thanm God they know of it now and were able to talk of it too. Though, not most of us are lucky to make couple of $100s pf dollars but with consistency, perseverance and improvement, i think we should be able to make more of hundreds of dollars but just have to be patient and bring up good content as you surely do. Thanks for raising the awareness.
@steevc It's all Good and I just exchanged for more STEEM. I am happy with what SBD has done for getting more STEEM lately.....
Nice one. I trust after Yahoo will come another but I guess Facebook will not want to mention steemit being that steemit will be giant killers! Guess who the giant is? Tks for sharing
They can't say no one ever told them!
its a nice post.good for your task..thanks for sharing..
Did you read it? No sign that you did in the few seconds before this comment
@riyad11 this is not a good practice. If good people here give us some opportunity to learn and earn some money then please don't ruin the stemina. You should read at least once and then comment.
good post ... thank @steevc for you share

It can't hurt letting them know. I like that Approach.. @steevc
Unfortunately spammer most like won't care at all, and just keep copy-pasting it into other posts.
If they keep getting flagged then they may take notice
We can hope so! In my opinion, the biggest problem is that some of these spam comments get upvotes for a few cents, which I think is enough to keep the spammers going even if their reputation gets destroyed by flagging.
I hope the Steemit devs will give us a feature to block/blacklist certain users in the future.
