If you look at what is happening on Medium, you'll probably understand how this Steem could easily get corrupted without hypervigilant oversight. In Medium, which does not reward with currency, but green hearts, there were a number of writers who ripped off content, then rebranded their post with click baity titles. These posts, that were bite-sized, easy to read and totally ripped off from other writers, were hugely popular, gaining thousands of green hearts. Click bait is a real problem in Medium, and there was a sizable war going on between the click bait self-help gurus and high-profile award-winning journalists. It was ugly. Adding currency to the situation would inflame this inevitable situation I think, unless a highly intelligent staff is hired and extremely vigilant about such matters. The war for popularity is never going away as long as resources are scarce, people are fighting for dominance, and the human condition continues to be wired for high social status seeking behaviors. I think this is a worthwhile experiment, but be prepared for the ugly side of our natures to be unleashed, as they certainly will be. How many users are currently here?
