but will we? That is the question. I see so much good here on steemit and yet I see the corruptive influences that made most of us seek out a new way to connect. I don't know about you guys but I came to steemit out of pure disgust of the status quo on twitter, facebook, instagram and more.
Free speech and community is what makes this place special to me. I could care less about making a few sbd here and there. The fact that I see this platform contributing to developing nations peoples, giving them the money to go to school, pay rent, buy food, to some degree steemit has the potential to bring a level of wealth to places that poverty stricken.

A computer and a connection and you are in business. You post, comment, upvote and get to know your fellow travelers along the way. but I have heard grumblings in the steemosphere about people getting ostracized over what they are posting or commenting because some people do not agree with it. That is more of the same. instead of youtue or facebook banning you for a day or a week people are downvoting and killing someones rep over, disagreements in opinion and belief systems.
I believe we have all come here because, we wanted something different than what we have been getting. So how is having bots scour the web to destroy someone on here because they didn't cite a source or used some picture. I thought this is open source. No ruling elite, no corporation making stupid rules to control the dialogue. Was I wrong?
My mother used to always say to me, whether she lived by it or not.
if you have nothing good to say, it is best to say nothing,
also I would like to address another complaint I have been been hearing through posts and comments. People supporting only their special little circle and growing themselves, when they are already huge. Does this make sense?? If we are to make this thing mainstream and have the power to tackle the big guys we need to support each other and I am talking about the whales. Their votes are huge when you get one, I have been on here for 3 months and have posted close to 800 items and not garbage and I have never received a big upvote from a whale. Yah, sure you can buy some bigger ones, but this is becoming ridiculous. Its either we are here for the long run and supporting each other, or this is a pyramid ponzi scheme that benefits only those that have already.
That sounds like more of the same, than something new and innovative.
If the big guys don't get involved in helping the little guys including myself, I fear steem won't be worth nothing in the coming years. The big guys are already working on their own plans to incentive base their content. If we don't stand out in some paradigm changing fashion, everyone who bought steem, might as well of flushed it down the toilet.
look at the price now, at one point from what I heard it was 2$ per sbd and with my own eyes 1.50$/sbd.
I am not the arbiter of the platform by now stretch of the imagination. but I can see what seperates success from failure, and if the big dogs don't stop selling their votes and start giving them freely as the platform was designed, you will lose in the long run.
lets support each other, make each other stronger, we are in the beta phase we are going to be the rule, rather than the exception. Lets start showing the new steemians that we give a crap about their success. Especially the whales, come on!! Lets be the change, we want to see in the world. Not posture it and act no different. I truly believe this can be he next facebook if the profit motive from the people who have lots changes and they start a campaign to assure that every steemian gets a (Slap from a Whales tail every now and then)

Work together and build together from the bottom up, unfortunately a lot of truth in what you saying @steveblack I have seen posts in #steemiteducation that could put peoples children through school.
Very few post making the money they should for the amount of work going into each article.
Thank you @joanstewart there definately seems to be a disconnect between content and value.
I love that saying, very true, in this case.
God bless!
Cheers!
