Why Aren't Any of the Steem Crypto Experts Talking About the Elephant in the Room?

Since I've Been Here, This is the First Time SBD < STEEM

Is it forbidden to speak when SBD drops or something? Since I've BEEN at Steemit, which hasn't been that long, SBD was always higher than Steem. Both SBD and Steem values appear pretty soft and squishy right now.

I get that this makes all those "SBD/Steem to the Moon" posters look sort of silly.

Yes, I read posts that explained SBD was supposed to be pegged to the USD, and I understand why that might be an advantage. I THOUGHT the other side of that digital coin was that Steem would increase in value. As a content creator, mostly what I see is my post values declining, so yeah....

Would anybody care to enlighten me?

What's up?

Yes, STEEM/SBD goes up and down. When you get paid for content on the STEEM Blockchain you earn the equivalent of "internet points", and the market decides what those points are worth. A few months ago 1 STEEM was worth a dollar, and now they trade for 4 or 5 dollars. They may trade for 50 dollars in a year or two or even back down to a dollar again. Generally as the network grows and matures the price should naturally have a tendency to go up. No conspiracy. If content creators want the price to go up all they need to do is hold the STEEM token and keep creating valuable content.

Thanks, that's good information. Do you have any insight why SBD is lower than Steem now? I know it was intended to be pegged to a USD, but is there a force trying to drive it there?

I'm not sure what is driving the SBD price. I expect it to trade back down to $1 in the following weeks. It's best to convert it to STEEM before the price falls any further.

Shhhh, it's like one of those things we all know but are never supposed to discuss. Sorry that nobody told you.

OK, well that explains it. I've always been sort of slow to pick up on the nonverbal cues. I figured by posting on Reddit, I'd get some objective answers, but the Steem Reddit groups are pretty slow.
