What do you want to see from Steem(it Inc) in 2019?

As we wind down the last day of 2018, it gets me wondering what we have in store for 2019. 2018 was a pretty eventful year when it comes to Steem and Crypto, perhaps not in the way we like. Will 2019 be the year that changes the game forever? I hope so.

What do you want to happen with Steem in 2019?

I could make a huge list, but let's go with the top 3.

Here's mine:

  • Reduce full node memory requirements to below 16GB ram, and reduce witness nodes memory requirements to below 8GB. This would tremendously help prevent scaling issues, and the reduced costs will create a lot of decentralization.

  • Resource credit delegation. I believe this is key to improving the onboarding process especially with projects such as @steemmonsters. (Update) Specifically RC pools.

  • I'm going to avoid SMT, as that's what everyone is going to answer. For the third, I am going to say I want to see more dApps that don't depend on the reward pool. I think this is critical to the success of Steem, we need more dApps that encourage outside parties to come to buy and spend Steem. If we focus on blogging and content creation, we are selling ourselves short.

I'd love to hear your three top wishes for Steem in the new year. Hit me up below with your thoughts.

One of the top things on my list is I would like to see serious effort put into steemit.com. Like it or not, steemit.com remains the public face of the Steem blockchain, and it would be much better for everyone to just embrace that and make steemit.com awesome rather than try to fight it and get the masses to understand the difference.

I realize Steemit, Inc doesn't have the time, resources, or expertise to do this, so I think they should give it to another group to do so they don't have to worry about it. Not going to go into too much detail about this right now, but that's what I would like to see in 2019.

Also, regarding RC delegation, it needs to be in the form of delegation pools, rather than direct delegation as we have now with SP. Some details about that can be found here: https://github.com/steemit/steem/issues/3033#issuecomment-427054648

100% agree with Steemit.com, I think it is critically important to the image of Steem as Steem=Steemit in most people's eyes. I am very vocal about the issues with /transfers, it is the buggiest page on Steemit.com, yet it is the most important to most people. It also should be the most trusted page on the site, yet it is the most comically broken.

I should have specified pools, but this exactly.

Yes my friend, i agree with you 100%, how we can be drive from One person like @ned? He is disappear leaving Steemit in the nothing...

I agree with your choices, especially reducing the requirements and cost for nodes. If we are discussing Steemit Inc. specifically, my biggest request would be communication.

While they shouldn’t be the core of the Steem blockchain, they are one of the largest stake holders and many developments rely on them in one way or another. So, get some communication going with the devs.. use the talent we have here on the platform, talk to the witnesses, communicate with the public. It’s a simple request, and one that I think could help quite a bit if they would take the time to do it.

It’s hard for community devs to make a move without knowing what their plans are. It’s hard for the community to step up and take more responsibility when our largest stake holder is silent. And biggest of all, it’s hard to get investors and businesses here when Steemit Inc. is the face of Steem.. and they currently look like a disorganized mess.

So, that’s my wish. Technology can’t happen overnight, SMTs can’t happen overnight, but communication is damn easy and something I believe they fail miserably at.

Happy New Year Marky 💥

communication!!

and not just their faceless blog updates every few weeks. they need to reassure not only steemians but the public that things are alive and well here.

i have no idea how they have all those resources but can’t hire someone to be the face of the company. just be in front of your community and show up....we aren’t expecting changes overnight but just showing up would be a start.

I actually was going to list this. There is more communication now than there was when I got here. But there is still a shroud to mystery to everything.

I have just one wish. Steemit should stop listing payouts in USD. Just get rid of SBD in payouts and list the amount in total Steem payouts. This should stop making it look like payouts change with the value of Steem, or am I wrong about that? Like, if I get one vote from someone with X amount of SP, doesn't my post receive a set amount of steem regardless of it's value to USD? I guess the 50%/50% payout changes this based on the ever fluctuating value of SBD, but couldn't it work to just be a set steem value? And as for SBD, even if it must exist as a currency, what makes it necessary to include it in post payouts?

(I guess that's sort of two wishes.)

Greetings,
Obviusly, I'd like to see Steem emerging victorious out of this bear market. I'd love to see crypto currencies in general solidify their possition and Steem becoming a major player.
I'd love to see more interaction here and more whales valuing quality content so that more people can get motivated to continue here.
Happy New Year, everybody.

Resource credit delegation. I believe this is key to improving the onboarding process especially with projects such as @steemmonsters.

Mind fleshing that out a bit, @themarkymark? Have been giving @steemmonsters a wide berth due to my addictive personality. 😎

My feeling is that you mean a dApp may delegate RCs to users to use their service?

Right now if Steem Monsters signs up a new user they need to delegate SP so they have the resource credits to play. You need a decent amount of SP to have any results. With RC delegation they can just delegate the new user RC and no additional voting power. It is more sustainable and it also reduces abuse.

Once you have 1,000 or so SP you typically have more resource credits than you will ever use. As a whale you have a godly amount of resource credits. The only way to actually use them is to claim tokens. Everything else won’t even make a dent. But new users can’t do jack without a decent amount of Resource credits that only are available via SP

Most people with minnow stake and above would never use all their RC. I know I don’t.

I would have to say:

1.- Better communication framework
2.- Solution to their funding requirements rather than solely depending on liquidating stake
3.- Support account creation gateways to other communities in the ecosystem as it seems they no longer have the bandwidth to do so.

It wouldn't take a genius to figure out what I think one of the things for improvement for the platform should be. Ban (what I guess there is now a name for I seen the other day) revenge flagging where people who have gotten mad at a comment you made not only flags your comment but runs over to your blog and flags current post on your blog that have nothing to do with the difference of opinions involved. Flagging should only be allowed for abuse and differing opinions but should never entitled someone with more power to run over to your blog and wipe out other work people have done just because they are upset with something you said.

Here are my 3 @themarkymark

  1. MainSTrEEM Celebrity Endorsement. ( Drake/Lebron/Denzel )
  2. One Official STEEM iOS and Android STEEM APP that everyone knows to download. (@partiko)
  3. STEEM to be more distributed to ALL users instead of the few WHALES. (sorry whales, no hard feelings...)

Thanks @themarkymark for your TOP 3!!!

Keep STEEM N ON,

Anything that helps steem become more decentralized. Survival of this steem project if there's another crypto price crash this year is what matters.

I wish a stable audience and engagement from the community, that we remain in the path of growth. For me the price is secondary (though it would be welcome) but I'd like Steemit to feel like "growing" and "reaching"
Happy New year!

My biggest concern is SBD.

SBD needs to work so apps can use it. I would like to see a better way to increase or remove supply.
