Hi there!
I wanted to ask you guys about a new idea that I'm working on. Basically it automatically sends small amounts of Steem Dollars to anyone who upvotes your post. It's a bit controversial but let me explain :)
How does it work:
Similar to the tip! functionality, if you've made a deposit in @tipU account (by sending any amount of SBD to @tipU), you can enable something called voteme! You can do this in two ways:
- by adding a comment under a post with word voteme! anywhere in the comment
- by sending any amount of SBD to @tipU with a link to the post in memo (the same thing as voting bots)
Than @tipU will send SBD reward to anyone who upvotes this post until the budget for rewards runs out. The rewards are funded from the deposit of a user who enabled the voteme! functionality. The reward is proportional to the voter's upvote - if someone gives you 0.2 SBD worth of upvote, he will receive 0.1 SBD - so the reward is half of the upvote. The minimal reward is 0.02 SBD because we don't want to send 0.001 SBD to someone with very small vote.
The idea is that if you spend 1 SBD on rewarding your upvoters, your post should get at least 2 SBD payout - but it can vary because of the minimal reward thing.
What this functionality is trying to achieve:
In simple words - balance. What we're currently seeing is the rise of the voting bots. Now don't worry, I don't want to fight with anyone. I just think that voting bots are concentrating too much steem income compared to normal users. So the idea is to start paying for votes to normal users, not just voting bots.
I know that buying votes is not the best idea on a social platform but almost everyone is already doing this by sending a tons of Steem and SBD to voting bots on daily basis. This makes voting bots even more powerful and what I'm afraid of is that soon to get any visibility on steemit, you're gonna have to always pay to voting bots.
So instead of centralizing more and more steem on voting bots accounts, let's also share some love with normal users and reward them for the votes. This helps to accomplish many things:
- it helps the minnows by giving them SBD (so they can buy steem :)
- it makes the steem / steem dollars distribution more even (instead of centralizing it on voting bots)
- it encourages your readers to follow you and engage your content because they know, that sometimes you reward them for upvoting (or maybe even with tips in the comments)
The functionality is currently in testing phase and you can enable it by:
- writing votemetest! anywhere in the comment under a post
- sending any amount of SBD to @tipU with url to the post in the memo (like voting bots)
I will be making another post with detailed informations about how to use voteme! but for now I would like to know your opinion about it - do you find this functionality helpful or is is a step too far? Or maybe there is something I can change to make it work better? Let me know in the comments and see you next time!

Oops, we found a problem: @skysnap was not found in @tipU records which means that you have no deposit. Send any amount of SBD to @tipU to create deposit. Remember that you can withdraw it anytime you want :)

Isn't this one of the ideas (possibilities) behind the coming SMTs? If so, @tipu will have been first to experiment with the idea of directly rewarding content consumers in their wallet!
Oh my, I'm not that good to go into SMTs ;) Just normal SBD + some automation :)

Ahh, this is true, but if we set the minimal reward too high, there is a risk that lot of the budget will be used to fund very small votes (for example 10 votes valued at 0.001 SBD will still drain 0.2+ SBD). Do you think that 0.05 would be better or go even higher?

No minimum SBD (so 0.001 SBD) and by profit do you mean how much will you earn on your post? That depends on your voters :)
if i will send 1sbd , then how much of sbd u will give upvote
Please read the post - @tipU is not a voting bot, he will not upvote the post with much value. It's the users that should do the voting :)
