Tony from Augur here! We’ve had many updates recently and I wanted to share everything with the Steemit community! We pushed the new market skin, saw some test markets resolve, and most importantly are on the lookout for a killer UI engineer! Check out the full update at http://blog.augur.net/augur-development-update-nov-9th/ to hear the latest Augur happenings.
Now Hiring: UI Engineer
React / CSS & LESS / Node / DevOps / Bitcoin & Ethereum
We’re looking for somebody who has built web trading interfaces before, ideally for a large scale site. We want you to be fluent in React, and have an intuitive understanding of how trading should work. It's a huge bonus if you’ve previously lead a small team of people doing just that. You’d be contributing to Augur and [AURC}(https://github.com/AugurProject/augur-ui-react-components), in which we encourage you to explore initially if interested.
Please leave us your LinkedIn, GitHub, and one recommendation (with explanation) for how to improve Augur in the fields found on our career page to apply.
Augur on Mentioned on ESPN:
We were recently mentioned in ESPN.com's "Future of Sports Betting" three-part series that had main page coverage! It's worth checking out and there's even another preview image of what should be our Mobile UI! Give the piece a read and share it with anyone that may be interested in what we're doing.
Videos & Interviews:
Recently I had the pleasure to return as a guest to my favorite show in the world, The Bitcoin Podcast! This time I chat with Cello about our REP distribution, project news and of course some banter on vinyl and pro wrestling! My favorite part of doing this was finally getting one of those "CoinTelegraph" processed painting images online!
Wanted to share some recent things I've been involved with, first being a great talk with NASDAQ & Bitcoin Magazine about the REP Launch and what's coming up next for Augur.
Warning unnecessary large amount of links are up ahead, it's stuff I feel like I need to share so please feel free to glaze over a paragraph of promotional media talk.
Spoke with (and/or was quoted by) EconoTimes, Finance Magnates and AllCoinsNews about our good friends at ShapeShift.io adding support for REP tokens on their exchange. I did more media for Jaxx, Kraken & Poloniex focusing on all of their very early support of Augur's REP tokens! Many of the same outlets were covered along with SiliconAngle, Bitcoinist, PaymentWeek, EthNews and Bitcoin.com.
Since you made it through promotional link hell, here's a reward of some awesome stuff that is a little more in-depth. First is Vitalik's recent Fortune biography, in which Augur is positively mentioned! CIO.com did a great piece called "Exploring the seduction of decentralized prediction markets to improve health" that I shared with my family and friends almost immediately! Finally there's a Backchannel feature by Morgen Peck titled "The Uncanny Mind That Built Ethereum", it's super in-depth and absolutely fantastic. She talks with Joey Krug too, so it's well worth the time of any Augur supporter to check out.
Check out Joey Krug's awesome talk at Coinbase HQ. It's recent, but it was fantastic and I think many will enjoy if they haven't seen it. If you dig this, be sure to scroll through our "Augur Speaks" YouTube Playlist to watch some of our team's talks, interviews and other shenanigans that you may have missed.
FINALLY: REP Token Support by a Hardware Wallet
Earlier today I went through the process of updating and setting up my Ledger Nano S Hardware Wallet, so I wanted to share my great experience and how easy the process is to use. I have owned a Trezor for over a year and I still absolutely love it, but once the Nano S announced Ethereum Token support, I knew I had to grab one (Protip: $69.00 with free Prime shipping on Amazon). My favorite feature is the ability to store bitcoin, ether and any Ethereum-based token (like REP) in a fairly simple manner. If anyone decides to take my recommendation an get one, first take a peek at how to use MyEtherWallet with the Nano S as it's needed for any Ethereum token storage and transfer. Follow that up with this fairly simple walkthrough the folks at Ledger were nice to put up specifically for Augur users!
Thanks to everyone for tolerating my massive wall of shilling, updates, cool shit and product recommendations. I like to fill these posts up on things that may have been missed in the past few months, so I hope that something new caught your eye and it was enjoyable.
