This mess cannot happen again guys...

This is my first post after the HF20...

I have the impression that no one was really prepared for the "successful" HF20 deployment.

Neither the users nor the Witnesses and nor the developers...

Seems that things start to work but we have a high level of uncertainty here...

My feeling now is that the destiny of the steem blockchain is now walking on the "tightrope"...

We have the hope that everything will be stabilized in 4 or 5 days but... you don't have to be a Master Engineer to understand that, today, we are a way far from saying "successful" deployment...

I know it's easy to criticize an action after it happens but, dear Steemit Inc. developers and other human beings involved in the evolution of the STEEM blockchain, I think all steemians need a LITTLE more of the following:

LESS IMPROVEMENTS IMPLEMENTATION AT THE SAME HARDFORK

BETTER RISK ANALYSIS AND CONSEQUENT CONTINGENCY/MITIGATION PLANS IN CASE A BUG APPEARS

BETTER TESTING, before deployment

BETTER COMMUNICATION TO ALL STEEMIANS = MORE RESPECT

Hope we all learn about this lesson which is still on going...

Steem on.

As a former mechanical engineer I've been saying that all the time - communication is KEY!

But unfortunately that's not the strongest part for developers/coders. For me it seems they forgot about the basic PDCA classes.

Since I have no knowledge to help, all I can do is wait and hope for the best wishing that they could release a note explaining things.

I don't think that a negative RC was a bug. It was a feature nobody paid attention to how will it be carried out for real.

That brings us to the following question:

did anybody test the upgrade?

Again, as an IT professional I would be out of business after an episode like this one.

Ps: you'll get my upvotes after VP recharges itself. Now it is useless to vote ...

I guess witnesses should have performed those tests... It is not only Steemit Inc devs...
It seems to me that a majority of the witnesses, the 20 first, supported the deployment of the HF20 without actually testing it in deep at the testnet...
THIS CANNOT HAPPEN AGAIN...
Thanks dude...
I am recharging as well...

There is a thing called development phase testing.

Every developer working on the code should have noticed it.

About the witnesses... I am very tempted to remove all my witness votes.

I totally agree with you my friend!!!

These kinds of technical issues are all too common in cryptospace and is the kind of thing that makes most-if not-all current cryptocurrencies too difficult for non-technical people.

Unfortunately, crypto has a long way to go before we can get to mass adoption.

Agree... I am just asking mainly a little more of communication. After waiting so long for the HF20 I think that this scenario or others should be firstly better explained... but I think they, steemit INC, didn’t know either and that’s scary

No ho podria dir millor!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It sucked not being able to do anything on STEEM! This hardfork definitely did not go well...
Hopefully the worst is over now but my voting power drains crazily fast

An upvote seems more expensive than posting right now... This is too much...

I don't understand a thing about the new system, I see people mentioning 'mana' and all that. I need to figure it out..

Better testing? Can’t believe they did test at all if I see some of the unwanted behavior!

As a pretty much retired DotCom cgi public production scripter, that "Beta" tag is, in my opinion, the millenial substitute for our flashing lights and road blocked "Under Construction" warning images of old.😎

Pretty cool that all of this happens before my very eyes in a wash of activity and the system will reward me for taking part in the most mundane of ways. #DEVSTEEM on!
