when i first came to steemit i tried soft selling the platform to a bunch of friends and family. none of them wanted to even try it for various reasons. too busy, too big of a learning curve, couldnt see the point (lack of belief in crypto), other platforms, lack of interest in creating content.
I think soft selling works for countries and people who need it. it isnt really economically viable for first world people unless they put out content and have some sort of talent, or theyre divergent. anyone without tech skills is unlikely to touch it.
so while i think its a sad fact, imho until we get past the learning curve the only people steemit will draw are creators, investors and idealists. if you can focus your promo to where they live online, that might be a place to start
I say its worth a try... I'm going to upload a little video for those who prefer to get the idea from a video.
oh i didn't say it wasn't worth a try, i'm an idealist and i support the community even if at times it's a huge challenge for me personally, just i guess from my perspective i'm useless here because of my demographics and lack of social networking skills. however for others they may have many contacts where this would pan out. go for it!
Yaaaay!!!!
