Can the "streemian" bot stop spamming plez???

in #steem9 years ago

streemian bot owner, I'm looking at you! =b

Is it really necessary that the bot post what it's done in every post with an image?

Have you seen what it did to the travel picture post where it filled up more than 2 entire pages worth of comment area?

Do you think this will detract from comments when people see the entire page or more below a post filled up with a bots message about all of the images within the post?

Can't the owner of the bot simply make it post in it's own topic called "streemian" and create it's individual post there so it stops spamming (yes I said it) every single post that uses an image?

plez?

This is also potentially a problem of license violation, isn't it? If I were to embed my own image with an associated license in the alt-text or description that forbade the redistribution of the image then the bot copying the file to IPFS would be in violation of that...

Do we know who the author is?

I think a really great solution would be if the author could produce a version of this bot that people can run themselves and give editing privileges to so that when they post, it can automagically edit the post, upload their own image and then change the embedded image to instead reference the new copy through an HTTP to IPFS gateway!

I think that's a much more community conscious and distributed way of doing things, and is totally the sort of thing I'd hope to see on Steemit!

I am the author, and have disabled the bot

Awesome, thank you! What do you think of the idea of being able to run your own instance that will parse your markdown and edit the images to move their hosting so that people can use the code themselves without impacting others?

I really like the idea of hosting on IPFS and that would be an excellent way for people to be able to do it with minimal effort but without worrying about license violations!

That is actually a very good idea ..
I will think about a bot infrastructure that can deal with bots as a plugin. I have most code for that available already ..

Agreed .. very annoying.

This bot detected images from a legacy source and decided autonomously
to upload them to the InterPlanetary FileSystem (IPFS)! The upload was
successfull and the pictures can be found here:
