Oh wow, that sucks! I completely understand why you are a bit careful then. What would be the repercussions if you got caught using cryptos in Nepal?

Sort:

They declared bitcoin and all cryptos illegal back in August 2017 and Immediately Nepal police arrested few guys who were involving in trading and mining. Few months later I saw an interview from a police official, where he said all of them were released after 25 days fining some penalties and the action was just for to spread awareness to public that crypto trading and mining is Illegal in the country.

But really unsure about the possible repercussion, and I think the government itself don't have any idea yet.

Oh, that still sounds really crazy! I hope they changes their minds sooner rather than later. Putting someone in jail for 25 days because they are spreading awareness of something is not really okay at all.

Yes this is absolutely crazy. After that I tried to talk with some guys who were running crypto exchange site in Nepal, what was actually happened to them but they denied to talk furthermore on the topic.
But I think the government will be flexible on cryptos like steem from which users only can benefit by earning free and doesn't affect country's economics negatively(as they said for bitcoin), but only if we could prove it.

I am planning to meet a government layer and seek some legal advise about it tomorrow. I may update about it.
it felt good chatting with you here.thanks.
