The citizens of this tribe have another definition of a beautiful face. They believe that a woman with a tattoo on her face can radiate beauty unequaled. People will know that the girl is in the category of beautiful, baligh, puberty, or stepping on adult fases. 
Hi there, I am of Maori descent and live in New Zealand. Thank you for sharing this story about the Moko Kauae (chin tattoo), which is usually the only facial tattoo you would traditionally see on a woman. Our people have quite a few tribal groups and the term Maori is more the collective used to group the indigenous people of New Zealand, Aotearoa.
