Personally, after reading through the comments, I think that a happy medium can be reached (if you decide to add ads, that is). There are different ad groups that you can select when setting up ads (in Google Ad-Sense, for example), so by doing a couple of things, we can keep it clean of phishing, tracking, etc.
- Research what ad groups do not have tracking
- When you roll it out, implement a tracking system that will see who has an ad-blocker enabled, and who doesn't.
- for those users that do allow the ads, take a portion (say 25%) of the ad revenue and split it equally with that pool of users.
