Extreme thought: How much do you think a top STEEMIT story should worth in the future
I have been in Steemit for about a month. Times to times again, I will see someone questioning how much one author could earn so much in a consistent basis. But the question is what is "SO MUCH?"
Some of the posts come to my mind that have the highest payout recently.
https://steemit.com/steemfest/@joseph/win-a-free-trip-to-lisbon-portugal-to-attend-steemfest-ii - USD 2092
https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@kingscrown/usa-wants-travelers-to-declare-bitcoin-at-the-border - USD 2148
It is looking relatively distributed and the "SO MUCH" may be referred to around USD 1500 - 2500 range.
And for the more extreme records:
https://steemit.com/piston/@xeroc/piston-web-first-open-source-steem-gui---searching-for-alpha-testers - USD 46973
https://steemit.com/beauty/@guerrint/the-first-steemit-makeup-turtorial-bringing-youtubers-to-steemit - USD 26660
and there are some more falling around 10000 to 20000 range.
Do you call it a lot? Maybe....
Until I read the below.
So Christiano Ronaldo could make 400K per post? and Lebron James could make 120K per post?
Imagine in Steemit, it means you will see 400000 number next to their upvoting button.
What if everyone come up together and vote 100% of the Voting power to a particular post and how much payout it will be?
According to Steemwhales.com, the average steem power is 1,436, assuming we have about 230K members and therefore the total steem power will be around 330M.
And according to steemnow.com, with my voting power at 2k, each 100% of my vote would worth about 0.62. After HF 19, the calibration becomes really easy because everything is now linear and therefore with 330M voting power, the payout could go as most as 102K which is not enough to attract Lebron James to post here.
So what is my point?
- When everyone is complaining others making so much money posting, think about how much time they need to devote to create such content and keep the community going and therefore we should be thankful.
- Looking at the big picture, the "SO MUCH" is nothing when you look outside of the world. It is still everyone's game. This means if you create good content, you could be one of the guy in the list. And you may see a much higher payout in the future given the continue growth in Steemit Community, that could be a new normal. This is actually very reasonable considering Steemit only has 200K members and Instragram has 700 millions ACTIVE users. And we all consider Steemit is better than Facebook and Instragram combined? (I know I do).
- For future enhancement: in order to bring in real life STAR to Steemit, we may need to give more reward to the top posters.
Let me know what you think.

It is very true that steemit is still at the early adapter stage, with a quite minority of internet users using it. That implies the potential of steem in the near future. When one of those celebrities join us, there should a boost in steem price as more people will know it and buy it.
Thanks for the comment and I can't wait to see Steemit to have more big power publisher or celebrity coming in and it will attract more fan base and also variety of contents type which will partially solve what has been going on here. Can't wait!
Yes their boost would be REAL
A very interesting point. One big celebrity could get the platform a lot of visibility. But why come to Steemit that requires some work, when they can make so much on other platforms for virtually no work
STEEM On!!
whar you have posted is really an eye opener, imagine the future that we have here in steemit, were very lucky that we are the first ones who discovered this platform and i think there is a lot of money still to be made here, im a newbie here and i dont get jealous of those people who earns a lot here i know they deserve it, for me all that matters is, post a valuable content like you did
Thank you for your comment, i know some people may be bothered by the centralized power of some whales are having but they
Very interesting numbers, thanks for sharing @wilkinshui! We need a Selena here...😎
thanks, i guess i am so out dated and in fact I only recognize half of the names on the list, the kardashian family and two I mentioned on my post :(
Pretty crazy to think about if one of those celebs joined Steemit. Just need one celeb and all of them will be coming down joining the party!
One celeb and everyone else reSteeming every post.
this is life lol :)
Definitely, it is all about the trend and style point for the celebs, and of course the payout as well
Eventually they will all be coming and who knows how the payouts will be then, even get so big I don't think "sponsors" will even be able to crack the market because the payouts happen anyway, that would be a great thing! No fake bullshit!
In a world where you give people hope about potential big payout, no one will do the "you follow me i follow you" kind of shit stuff and focus to make the community better.

@wilkinshui, thanks for the numbers. It seems unreal that people are making so much money via social media. We live in a very different world than what I remember growing up.
Great opportunities, but great challenges as well!
definitely, I am also in the earlier generation which all of these seem really crazy but we just need to embrace the change and get the opportunity ourselves.
Really putting things in perspective. Just shows steemit has long way to go :)
Definitely agree with you, i am always amazed with how much value steemit is creating everyday and how little members we have here now. When you compare the number to fb or instragram, it is not even a tiny percentage but just mean we have a lot more room to grow.
When numbers like those start appearing, I think you can count on a harkfork to try to rectify those numbers. Even if you bring in more users the question then becomes "will they all invest in Steem". A lack of investment with sky high users and crazy rewards only serves to deplete the reward pool quicker. Or am I missing something?
No you are not, after all we are still very new and that the power seem to be holding by some particular people, the dispersion even between the top 1% account in steemit are very big. Ans
Interesting comparisons. Something to think about
Thanks :)
