RE: 2 New Things I have Learned About STEEM!!! Be Careful when you power up and power down...

in #steem7 years ago

I think it is best for new minnows to buy steem and power up if you wanna make money on this site. Many users upvote what will make them the most profit and not based on what they actually like, so they ignore new users with little steem power. I think it is a lot more likely to take much longer to build up SP organically without buying it.

Now I'm realizing it, its true. At my level, its hard to get an upvote.
But the problem for me, is to find an app/exchange that will buy steem directly from PH-Peso to steem without passing to bitcoin, since bitcoin is very slow and fees are on the roof!

@lifttheveil did a simple video showing a way to do a transfer via litecoin - I don't know if it would be helpful for you as I don't use crypto other than here. I would buy steem if I could use paypal but I have no other wallets or such like. Have a look , he has done a few short videos.

I tried to cheque the video, but got the message from steemit that no such page exists (@lifttheveil). Are you certain this is the correct name?

I did a search and the correct name is: @lifttheveil411

Yah, I use litecoin and Dogecoin currently through steem to do all my trading... Bitcoin is too pricey on the transaction fees right now.. THey went down actually, but it's still too high for my blood and the size of transfers I do... Litecoin is wonderful though. It's gonna go up in price...

but that's what I was doing! I was powering up?! I swear people are responding without reading...

I am not exactly stupid, but thick as a plank when it comes to understanding how the steem wallet thing works. I was prevented posting today because of bandwidth too. It took me many attempts to transfer sbd to steem / steem power and I still have no idea if I have done it properly. As far as I can see I have no steem and never have had??

I looked at your wallet... You did it perfectly. But you are having the same issue as spoken about in this post. You had 15 SP delegated to you as a new user from Steem itself.. You powered up about 2 steem, and the system powered you up, but took away the same amount of delegation as you powered up...

Essentially the lesson learned here is, If you are going to power up as a new user that has some delegated steem power. You must powerup more than 15 steem to get any benefit from your power up! Consider it a buy in... vs their gratuity of delegated steem for new users...

Yes, You bought 2 point some Steem power. I see it. But you had 15 steem power delegated to you from Steem itself. It took that same amount of Teem Power you bought and subtracted it from your delegated amount. So you still have exactly what you had.... Except with one difference. you OWN that 2 steem and can power it down and sell it, versus the delegated new user steem is and WAS NOT YOURS... It is just to help you... So.. It sucks, just got to pass that 15 SP hump basically... The same thing is what happened to Nanocheeze that is being discussed in this post.

Thanks very much for helping like that. So I do have steem but it is in the steem power section? The upper portion displayed is mine, the lower on loan?

I read and understood what you said. Power up by buying steem.

Power up so the delegated doesn't matter

That is exactly what we were discussing. We were powering up. We were discussing how it basically ignores powering up until you power up a full 15 sp...as it negates it with the auto delegation system. It's pretty bogus...
