What is it you are searching for? If you are looking for a nice long straight branch that you can strip the twigs from to make a fishing pole, then you found 2 of them because you rolled 4 or greater both times. Alternatively, you could have found a branch suitable for making a fishing pole and another that is stiff and suitable for making a spear from it. For making a spear, you will need something to sharpen one end with it.

Oh, I have to specify. I see, then your suggestion of doing one fishing pole branch and one spear branch makes sense to me. If I can't do both, then just the fishing pole one makes the most sense.
Also, can I attempt a crafting after I've taken my turn already? If so, then I'm going to try to craft a fishing pole from string, a fishing pole branch, and the nail.
Crafting can be done at any time, so yes, you can craft after all actions are completed. The nail is a large nail. How will you bend it into a hook? How can you make it sharp enough? Perhaps a safety-pin would make a better hook?
